That was a frustrating game for about 7 innings but I think it's a great sign that we battled back immediately after that tough T7. Other takeaways: (1) Izzy can play, (2) Bacon looked better tonight, (3) five double plays...wow, (4) Herrington had some very nice ABs, went deep into counts and of course the clutch hit, (5) Robbins is a BEAST, (6) terrible news about Clement - huge loss, (7) This team definitely has work to do but they have serious talent and play hard, (8) my friend is no longer allowed at the Tigue - the moment he left, we started our comeback
So who was that on the PA? And will Nick be back for the weekend.
After TD left, I didn't think anyone could come close to replacing him. However, tonight made me thoroughly appreciate our regular guy.
Bacon did look better. Had good movement on his pitches. Perfect hit and run goes into the outfield and spits them for a triple. If the shortstop is covering it's a loud out.
Five. Double. Plays. Five. Double. Plays.
I appreciate Izzy making me look smart. I mentioned early he has very good speed and some pop in his bat. He beats out a bunt and hits a tater...and almost had a second one, flying to the track in LCF.
Clem's mom sent me the Xray during the game. However, the info couldn't be released because of student privacy issues and I was asked to wait until Robe commented on it. Which I did.
Trosclair got two hits tonight. That's a good thing.
Poncho looks very comfortable up there. I think you're going to see them start Sensley in the OF (except against lefties) and give Poncho more AB's as the DH with Clem out.
The cast will be on a month. Hopefully Clem will be back in five weeks.
I am not sure where this season is headed...
As someone who has loved baseball his whole life and who finally has time with his Spring to get season tickets, I can say there is nothing like watching this program.
We can be frustrating. We can be exhilarating. That's the great game of baseball.
I hope we will be a Tony Robichaux-coached team for a long time. The game is played the right way.
On second thought, I think I know where this season is headed... especially after watching tonight's game.
Look I think the reality is outside of the La Tech game we can not be too dissappointed. Granted we should have won vs TCU, but they are a good team. La Tech was a game that on paper we should have won easily, but we didn't. Their will be more of this dissappointing losses, because this is baseball and that happens every year, but overall we are 6-3. Hopefully 7-3 after tonight.
