  1. Ragin' Cajuns Smith, Trahan Guide Cajuns to Saturday Sweep

Macey Smith recorded a three-hit shutout of Rutgers and Kylee Jo Trahan pitched a perfect game against Alcorn State as the No. 6-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team picked up two victories in the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational on Saturday at Lamson Park.

I saw this posted on Facebook earlier and thought I would share. We have some very special young ladies playing for us.

So I just want to brag about Macey Smith one more time, and tell you why she is a person that inspires me.

Yesterday in her first start for UL she pitched a 3 pitch shut out for the number 7 ranked team in the country.

I just want to remind you of my favorite Macey story; so I used to play 5am basketball (before I was told I have no cartilage in either knee) and would text bible verses or motivational quotes out to my teen group to help them start their day. Periodically I would get a "thanks Ricky"
from Macey, after the 3rd time I finally asked her why she was always up so early, here was our following conversation:

Me: why are you always up so early?
    Macey: I'm working out
Me: it's 5 am on a school day go to sleep!
Macey: "this is gonna sound corny but I have DREAMS and if I want to make those DREAMS come true then I have to work for them."

All I could think was wow this is a 16 year old human being that will be successful for the rest of her life because she just gets "it" the idea that dreaming isn't enough! She understands you have to have a plan on how you will make those dreams come true, because let's face it, A DREAM WITHOUT A PLAN IS A WISH.

She goes to college to play for one of the best softball schools in the country and guess what, she goes from Highschool superstar to freshman statistician. This is a 6ft 1 powerhouse, 3 time first team all district, and she can't even sniff the field because "I have to learn to pitch all over again." So for 2 years she does what Macey does, works her butt off (new diet, new weight routine, different mechanics, new approach to facing batters) to become the pitcher her coaches need her to be.....and last night all that hard work paid off!

She is the epitome of the following quote,

"Are the habits that you have today on par with the dreams you have for tomorrow?"

Her habits were on par with her dreams....are yours?

Go make your dreams come true my friends! Be like Macey lol, Have a great day!

    Great job Macey, go Cajuns!"
