Jay Hedgemen suspended

Everyone will have a different opinion on this. All coaches are different and we have to let them coach/handle HIS team as HE sees fit. I have no problem with as long as he is consistent. I have no tolerance for coaches who let the star players get away with murder while a third team guy gets screwed to set an example or send the message. I also have no respect for a coach who leaves it to the team like Les Miles does. As for as I know, we do not have any coaches like this on our staff for any sports. Being critical for wins and losses is one thing, and I agree he probably shouldn't have called out his play, but I respect the hell out of coaches who make these tough decisions. Just my opinion.

All fair. I'm just telling you, the timing and manner are shady Jack. And yet another player, who is the most popular amoung the guys, is being disciplined under Marlin. Obviously it's just my opinion. I don't know one way or the other, but there's much more to this IMO. I think this is bigger than Hedge.

You know about as much about Jay Hedgeman, and what occurred to get him suspended, as any casual UL bball fan. So you going on an tangent with little to no information makes you look like a clown. Unless you do have some additional information to share for the board, but based on what you have posted so far, I doubt you do.

If you would take the time to read what I've posted, you would know that his perceived "good guy persona" has little to do with my "tangent". It was the basis of my initial surprise, but as I've said, this is bigger than Jay Hedgeman. Timing, comments and history have much more to do with my opinion. Don't insult my intelligence by painting me as a gullible fan boy because I've spoken to a player. I'm not 12. I'm smart enough to know it benefits guys to put their best foot forward whenever speaking to us. However, I trust my judgement of character, and like many others have said, Hedgeman appears to be a solid guy. Seems like you are the one with an axe to grind.

I realize this will not be a popular take, but if he was suspended for arguing with Marlin in front of the team, I disagree that he deserved it. If he slapped a trainer upside the head, then ok. Again, just guessing, but my money is on he told Marlin to go F himself.

Not ideally, no.

But I'll say this: a competitive guy like Hedge, playing for a coach like Marlin, who has done nothing but under achieve since he's been here, is a bad mix. Just because someone is the head coach doesn't mean they are right. By his comments in the media, it leads me to believe Hedge challenged Marlin. (And if he did, I can promise you, he spoke up for other players on the team that are also questioning Marlin behind closed doors.) In my opinion, and many others here would say the same, maybe Bob Marlin needs to be challenged.

There is a reason why we can't consistently recruit players here folks. I think this is yet another glimpse into that reason.

Throw this into the real world...how many of us would have a job if we dropped that bomb on a superior. Or if it was dropped on us by a subordinate? Hell, youth coaches don't tolerate that.

This is all pure conjecture. May be 180 degrees off base. Again, none of our business.

So what has changed?

I do know we added a player mid season, who we all love, but has cut into playing time of players that have been there the whole season. Again, coach's decision, and NO, not saying that is the issue. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know there are only 200 minutes of playing time in a game and the new guy changed the pecking order. We all think Eli was a great add, but the dynamics of the team had to change.

That's Marlin's decision, he's the coach.

I'm not sure we can accurately judge the situation without knowing what went on. Hypothetically speaking if he called into question he superior in front of the whole group... then maybe it is justified. I know I couldn't call my boss a dumbass in front of the whole company and not get some kind of punishment.

That being said because you know this person and you think highly of him you may be a bit skewed to his side. Kinda like when a mom gets a call about her baby boy doing something out of character and she says the "Not my kid!" line only to find out yeah... he messed up.

But hey who knows right? I'm just a fan and don't really have a horse in the race.
