I'm not going to argue with you for the sake of argument. If you're so certain that I'm off base, go ahead and find out how wrong I am, and come back and post about it. If that tickles your fancy..

I get lost in all the analysis and dissatisfaction with the team. Historically nothing short of a coaching change seems to address it. Then the new coach shows some promise initially and then bogs down.

Surely someone can explain this dilemma from the bottom up. What exactly will it take to send UL basketball to the next level? I don't think any one person can provide more than a temporary fix. Inquiring minds want to know.

What is the long-term, sensible solution to the basketball program?

Personally? We need to hire a guy that doesn't care about being liked, OR care about liking anyone else around here. Coaches figure out who to make friends with around here, and that ensures them job security that they wouldn't get otherwise. Look at the best basketball coaches we've had.. Butted heads with brass.

Go ahead and show me where I claimed influence, knowledge of the situation, connection in anyway, where I "grilled" Harris in anyway, or any of the sort. I backed Hale because I believe he had the resume to change our Atheltics forever. And oh, lo and behold, the guys that T-Joe hired to give us advice on our athletic situation were employed by Hale and so far, have echoed every single damn thing we've been saying here (that came straight from Steve himself) for over a year!

Many, MANY people questioned Hud all season long, because the guy SUCKED in 2015! There is no debate. Recruiting issues over the years bit him in the ___, botched QB situation and lost the locker room. These things actually happened, it is not up for debate. But you're not looking for a debate, are you? You got pssd that someone could suggest insubordination being ok. The idea that someone standing up and saying something to Marlin bothers you so much, you decided to launch a personal attack.

Here's the deal cat, I never condoned a mutiny. What I did say is, it's not the worse thing that could have happened in that locker room, and Jay was saying EXACTLY what a big group on this site is saying. But because he's 20 yrs old and a player, he should be banished from the team? What if he was right in what he said? Many here would agree with what he said, in theory..

I served this country, so don't give the BS rant to me pal. I've seen guys get roasted for standing up to authority, and I've seen those same guys be RIGHT.. So no, IDEALLY, you don't want that to happen. But we have a problem at head coach, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Bring in a new guy, with passion and competitive emotion like Hedgeman, and these things happen.

Now, go back to yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off of your lawn..
Well Bruh...I too served my country in Desert Storm and Cat, I only have you to yell at to get off my lawn.

I don't really have the time to go back and find where you said (paraphrasing here) "that your wallet and ability to spend time up the programs ___ gives you access that others do not have. You have also come on this board and posted many times little snippets of information that you have gleaned for your access and you portray yourself as one of the chosen few on this board who are considered an insider.

Do you consider yourself an insider? Certainly seems like it to me, with that big fat wallet you have and all!

I know what you said and I am not spinning anything into something you never said. There is no denying that you condoned the practice of this player standing up to his coach and telling where to "stick it" because sometime you have to stand up to authority! The guys in the service I have seen get smoked deserved it. Plain and simple. A leader can't have any of his people OPENLY DISRESPECT him. It breaks down the unit and it will cease to operate. Like I have said take it behind closed doors.

Insubordination is NEVER ok. If it happens, there has been a breakdown somewhere along the line. Either side is capable. But the simple fact remains, he broke the known rules of the team and therefore the University and the person that is responsible for his actions has deemed that his punishment is to be suspended. That's the facts. You come along and say, without knowing the facts (of course you have spoken to the kid a few times and think he is a dream which I am sure the kid is a fine young man) and assuming there is problem with the coach because of issue in the past that you probably don't have first hand knowledge of. So no, I didn't take anything you said out of context.

hey news flash...my 8 y/o sons teacher just called me and said he went up to her and let her have it on the way she was holding him responsible for his behavior that he knew was wrong and in the end he told her where to "stick" her silly little conduct sheet and his sad face! She was so taken back by his dominance that she gave him all 100's for the year! So proud of him the way he stood up to authority and the way they always have to keep them accountable!

Haha! Now I see. I offended you. All that time ago. Well sorry, not sorry.

The wallet comment was simply to turn a phrase. I donate like everyone else (mostly) here. An insider? No sir, I'm privileged to have friendships with some great guys around here that know a thing or two, but I'm not any more connected than anyone else could be if they wanted to be. That obviously bothers you though...

Keep using ridiculous anecdotes to prove your points, that will is probably going well for you. In your scenario, the "leader" is always right and the subordinate/pupil/soldier/player is always wrong. That simply is not true.

    Anyway.. Geaux Cajuns.

Don't care one way of the other if you are connected or not. Offend..not even close. I donate and are a two sport season ticket holder like many other. And I did not say that the leader is always right. What I said, for the 4th time, is that a subordinate should NEVER openly disrespect his supervisor. If they disagree take it behind close door and take care of the issue in a respectful manner. It is especial important not to do so if the insubordination comes from the leader of the subordinate group. In other words, the team captain should NEVER disrespect the leader in public. Take that crap behind closed doors.

Sorry for the "ridiculous anecdotes". Seems it was the only way I could properly illustrate to you what i meant. As ridiculous as you may think it was...the situations are one in the same. Someone broke a rule and now has to deal with the consequences. His behavior not only affects himself but it also affects the team and its record that will go into the books. It goes as far as hurting Long's chances for the NBA.

But of course its OK with you to #stickittotheman!!

Let me ask you this: If this situation had seemingly been addressed behind closed doors and the coach failed to keep up his end of the bargain, you still say it's wrong to stick up for yourself publicly?
