Emphatically not true. A series win over a Top 10 RPI team (Oregon was #3 at selection time in 2015) would carry significant weight and much more than offset a loss to a team that was in a regional last year ... and #109 in the RPI rankings at selection time last year. You also have the benefits of receiving an RPI bonus with that win over Oregon.

The committee does not compare the two ... no. The committee will look at bad losses as a consideration is certain circumstances. They did this three years ago when comparing two teams in a tight comparison for the last #1 seed. But #1 ... Central Arkansas is not inherently a bad loss. A "bad loss" is defined to be a team with an RPI rank of over 150. UCA was an NCAA regional team last season with an RPI rank of 109 at selection time. #2 When you are competing for one of the national seeds and a potential Top 8 national seed ... the performance vs. your peers is very important. The committee wants to see that you performed well against the types of teams you are competing against for these elite spots. This is especially important for a school that is not proving itself against the elite conferences week-in week-out during the regular season. So series wins against these elite teams is even more important for the Cajuns. There are not as many of these opportunities for the Cajuns ... especially at home.

And as far as the RPI is concerned, it is an important part of the committee view, that you neglected. It is the most important ... by far. This is why I mentioned it.
