I'd like to know more about these renderings you speak of. This idea would absolutely be a hit with our fan base.
I don't believe this has progressed much beyond the idea phase. What I've seen is simple sketches of a party deck and what I can only assume is food/beverage service area and maybe restrooms. The location aligned with the foul pole in right field. I'll emphasis though that this was probably one step beyond the type of discussions that happen on this board every day.

Decks would actually be free-standing, but with open areas so that trees would not have to be removed. Boom: everyone's happy.

Would also love to see those renderings too. This kind if thing that should at least be brought forth to the fans....if we support it, great. If no support, just move on to seething else.

I hate stadiums that are really big and are never close to half full (cajundome).

Let's see what the stadium expansion does with the additional seats and I am all in favor of the party deck in the outfield. Good revenue stream and idea for coaches to bring little league teams, birthday parties, etc.... Having 1 set of bleachers in the outfield would look out of place in my opinion.
One of the things Skip Bertman made sure woul happen at the new Box. There wouldn't be xcessive seating. Keep the perceived value high.

The next big project for the Tigue will be to replace the metal bleachers to be in harmony with the new grandstand.

We could use the upgraded metal bleachers at the track and soccer complex. Those old bleachers should be upgraded.

Are you kidding? The metal bleachers at track and soccer are nothing compared to the tigue. We have bench back seating at the tigue and they are just fine. When the new grandstand is built, it's going to mesh directly with the height and connectivity of the current metal bleachers. I agree they should be upgrade in a few years time, but the track and soccer bleachers? Yea no thanks. Those are trash compared to baseball.

I think he was referencing moving the current "Tigue" bleachers TO the track/soccer facility. The new grandstand will connect to the bleachers but the heights won't match exactly so they'll have to put a step up/down to match.

After thinking about this I was wondering how they would handle the construction of the planned walkway along the top of the current bleachers when future plans would include the removal of the current bleachers and build out the new grandstand to take their place. I'm assuming they would have planned on how to connect the two so it is seamless.

If I'm not mistaken, the existing metal bleachers will be part of the new stadium and will not be going anywhere. As I understand, there will be some modifications and additions, but the bulk of those seats won't be replaced or go anywhere.

    Can anyone confirm?

I believe this is correct from everything I have read.

I've never been told or seen anything that would indicate they are to be replaced in the future. I'll try to ask that question in the next couple of days.

If you replace the current bleachers with seating you will really see some psd off people when capacity is reduced by a 1000. Imagine telling season tickets holders they aren't being reseated...they no longer have a ticket,

Why do you think replacing the bleachers would reduce capacity by 1000?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I heard that the stadium will be built so that they could replace the bleachers with something permanent one day. Perhaps the idea would be to move the bleachers farther down the baselines and fill in with permanent seating.

If you replace them with chair backs..bleachers hold a lot more people than chair backs.

Here's the most recent info from the article back in December.

    http://www.theadvertiser.com/story/s...gue/77697330//

“We’re gonna be able to take care of everything behind home plate,” Robichaux said, “then be able to bring in two decks — or two platforms — down the third-base and the first-base side, which gives covering to the bleachers and gives us a platform in the back to where we can do maybe loge boxes, standing-room-only areas, concessions areas.
