How many of you identify as "the baseball crowd"?

I am a baseball first guy. They say you always remember the first girl you fall in love with, for me it was baseball. That being said basketball is a very close second and softball a close third. Football is a very distant 4th and maybe even 5th. For many reason this fall I decided I was not going to get invested in football anymore. It is now a social event for me, I see my friends, drink a few beers and maybe a few more bourbons. Winning or losing takes does not excite me one way or the other. I hope we have a winning team and I will go to a bowl, but I would rather see a NCAA Sweet 16/Final Four, WCWS or WS wins for our teams. Those are sports we have a more realistic shot at a national championship. We will never see, in my lifetime, a mid-major football team in the football playoff. The big boys will not allow it.

Basketball for me but I think most of you know that. Reason for this choice not is simply because I enjoy the sport due to It's non stop action. Reason I support this most is because it is the one sport with the potential to bring us the most recognition. Due to the weather issue, the diamond sports are not covered nationally no matter what you accomplish. With so many minor bowl games today, getting into one is not a big deal. Basketball on the other hand brings your school recognition on CBS if you are mentioned on Selection Sunday and that notice goes up exponentially if you pull one upset. I will be the first to admit we have not taken advantage of that potential in recent years. It is still there for the taking however.

I agree 100% that the sport at this school that benefits our brand the most is basketball. Hence my crusade on the scheduling problem. While my favorite sport is baseball, I'd love us to dump the amount of money into basketball they we've seemingly dumped into football.

I'm enjoying all the comments about the different sport crowds. Very interesting.

Btw, doesn't the baseball crowd have the reputation of being the more "cerebral" crowd?

something to think about could be the level of the sport itself....for example NFL football then NCAA, MLB then college baseball (if not AAA, AA, etc then college- but that would be a different thread), then NBA then NCAA hoops. for this reason I would lean towards Softball as NCAA softball is arguably already at the top rank of its sport. (unless Olympics gets reinstated but then that is only every four years)

Football games are day long events.... start tailgaiting early morning. The build-up and anticipation leads to a great deal of excitement

Baseball is a relaxing and enjoyable 2-3 hours at the ball park.. Beer and dogs... nostalgia....

I love them both... if I had to pick one SPORT it would be baseball... one EVENT football....

Baseball slow in comparison to softball......the gamesmanship that goes on in softball has hit crazy levels. If one coach comes out for a minute the other coach has to come out for two minutes. Now baseball still tends to take longer to finish because of the additional innings but softball could easily slash 15-30 minutes off every game if they didn't need to talk after every pitch! I still like softball and try to get to games when I can but I gotta agree with Jay on this one.

1basketball 2 football baseball and softball tied. I only have season tickets for football right now because my daughter plays high school basketball and to many dates overlap. When she graduates I will get tickets for basketball.

You make a good point... I am a huge Saints fan having Season Tickets longer than my RC tickets.... So it would be NFL then College baseball then close third college football..

And World Cup Soccer every four years
