Except for Lexie Elkins, no one on either baseball or softball is likely to match either of those.

Now, the talent in the coaching box is another story. Mike is the among the best in the business, and Tony is at or near that as well. Bob is... well.... mediocre.
I am referencing college team athletics ... best teams playing against the best teams ... no comparison to other UL sports ... baseball and softball teams are among the nations best and play the best teams in the country as they progress in post season ... often had potential to be national champions.

As a fan of UL, I'm totally into every sport, football, basketball, and the glove and bat sports.

Those of you who are more inclined to love baseball, and maybe softball should count your blessings ten times over. There was a day when we had Shipley, and then Pascal where we all felt the sky was the limit, then three decades of mediocrity. Football, still has a huge question mark behind it.

Enjoy Lotief and Robe while you can, time will catch up too soon.

Softball has 25 years of excellence. Robe has built this thing.

If they fall, I won't be around to see it.

Basketball had a strong beer selection last season and the early part of this season, but the beer station to your right when you walk into the front of the dome has slowly devolved into the same crap they serve in the left beer booth.

The craft beer station for opening weekend of baseball was one the best beer selections I've seen at any sporting event and rivaled what the best bars/restaurants in the area dish out.

I love to watch all 4, but if I had to choose.

    1-Basketball
    2a-Softball
2b-Football (limited number of games plays a big part into this)
    3-Baseball

Baseball and Softball success, while very real and very nice, is as ephemeral as butterfly farts. We are one bad hire away from being ULM in both sports. We are beyond incredibly lucky that Robe and Mike are still here, and neither is a spring chicken.

Kids don't come here to play for UL. They come to play for Mike or Tony.
