  1. UL Basketball Team Effort Helps Louisiana Pull Away From UT Arlington, 90-75

Shawn Long recorded his 14th double-double of the season as he posted game-highs with 22 points and 14 rebounds and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns pulled away in the second half to claim a 90-75 victory over UT Arlington in a Sun Belt Conference men's basketball game on Saturday at the Cajundome.

    NCAA Double-Double Leaders:

    1 Pascal Siakam New Mexico St. So. 6-9 F 22 19
    - Joel Bolomboy Weber St. Sr. 6-9 F 21 19
    3 Chris Horton Austin Peay Sr. 6-8 C 24 17
    - Egidijus Mockevicius Evansville Sr. 6-10 C 22 17
    5 Ben Simmons LSU Fr. 6-10 F 21 15
    - Josh Hawkinson Washington St. Jr. 6-10 F 20 15
    7 Jameel Warney Stony Brook Sr. 6-8 F 21 14
    - Shawn Long La.-Lafayette Sr. 6-9 F 19 14

Not too shabby! Shawn is tied for 7th place in double-doubles. There are only about 30 players that have 10 or more. If you figure there are about 4,500 kids playing college basketball that is an amazing accomplishment to be ranked in the top ten in the nation.
Congratulations Shawn! Keep up the good work.

Shawn has gArnered more double doubles than ANY active player in all of college basketball. I wonder how he will stack up NCAA career wise in that category.

Now that my oldest son wrapped up his basketball season over the weekend maybe I can start using my season tickets more often...it seemed like every home game this year coincided with a practice or game of his.

Thanks, MelRock. I couldn't find this info.
Just incredible! So Shawn Long is the NCAA career leader in double-doubles and with each new one he breaks his own record. I love it. If he adds about 10 more that will put him at 76. He already is the career leader by 10 games. So, this would place him 20 games ahead of the second ranked player. This record may last a long, (Long), long time! Furthermore, it will be set by a Ragin' Cajun!
I hope more fans become aware of this and get a chance to watch history in the making.
Next chance, Tuesday night at the Cajundome!

Scratch my previous post! Upon further research I found this:

    MEN career double-doubles
    →1. Tim Duncan, Wake Forest (1994-97): 87

    →2. Ralph Sampson, Virginia (1980-83): 84

    →3. Derrick Coleman, Syracuse (1987-90): 83

    →4. Malik Rose, Drexel (1993-96): 80

    →5. Oscar Robertson, Cincinnati (1958-60): 79

So, if Shawn gets about 10 more he will be at 76 and presumably in 6th place - all time!
That's pretty good company he would be keeping.
