I'm pretty sure they are new light poles as well as lights in the outfield. The old ones were black (or rusted) I think and the new ones look to be galvanized. Only reason I'm pretty sure is because I drove by around dusk a week ago and the light poles caught my eye instantly

    EDIT: Found one on IG

The old lights from the outfield are down and new one are up. #geauxcajuns

Dammmnm!! They took out a tree? I am so heartbroken.

Were there goofballs picketing the tree removal?

And now the new ones along the first baseline are up, and the old ones are down. They are now working on getting the new ones up along the third baseline. I would assume that they will then take down the last of the old ones once the new ones are up.

The concrete structure supporting the ones behind the grandstand/bleachers are massive.

It's been years since I played on Cajun Courts, but from what I could remember moving the lights to Cullota would be very helpful. Not sure if they have been updated since then, but I played in a state tournament there in 2000.

I thought I had heard it was going to be LED's. I know of them being used in a number of stadiums.

The upfront cost is expensive but the obvious payoff is in reduced electrical cost. However HID's are still king. They produce a tremendous amount of light with much less upfront cost. No doubt if they aren't LED it was probably due to a high upfront cost.

That is correct. LED is getting there but mostly at NFL and NBA venues. Much higher up front costs but operating costs are much less. Last I heard the payback in the difference in cost was about 5 years. (depending on how often they are used.) The HID lights being put up are much more efficient than the ones that have been removed.
