Thread: Facilities

    Default Status of Facilities

Is the T&F/Soccer complex finished? Someone posted they were going to take pictures over last weekend. Any pictures to post?

Are they finished with the interior of the APC? What is the timeline for finishing the exterior and completing the project?

We'll never know. Too much of a "distraction".

I was told the T&F/Soccer complex was almost complete. A punch list was all that remained.

They are not working on the exterior of the APC as far as I can see. What's going on in the interior is a big guest on my part. Can't gain entrance. If any changes on the outside I can't tell by the camera. Same to be lock up on Sept. 26.....the signage on the front has not been installed yet. The covered walk-way in front of the complex has not been poured or covered. Looks like a standstill. But I assume they are trying to finish the interior. This contractor works in all area of the construction at the same time.....but not on this project. Hell I don't know what's going on.......

The camera is working. The date just isn't showing up correctly. I'm taking a guess here but some of the exterior work might be delayed because it would cause to much of a problem logistically at a busy time of the year. There just isn't much room to maneuver between the old Cox building and the new APC. If you start trying to do construction between the two and at the main entrance it is going to be a substantial disruption. They might end up pushing that back for a while.

The camera is locked on September 26. The date of the Akron Game. The image shows a large pile of dirt which is no longer there. I suspect that they are doing some finishing touches on the interior and taking care of punch list items. As far as the exterior goes what you see is what you get FOR NOW until the Cox Building is demolished. Anything they place between the APC and Cox building is subject to damage during the demolition. There is also the possibility that the Cox Building is in the way of the final walk ways and other exterior work that needs to be done.

Since they are occupying the building now, that really is all that matters until the Cox building is demolished. Exterior signage and other things can happen at any time.

Are they using the building Yes
Are the coaches and students happy Yes
Has the contractor performed satisfactorily Yes
Are they completely finished with the exterior No
In the grand scheme of things does it make any difference NO.
Do the football coaches and players have greater things to worry about YES

They are using the track and field facility now and as far as I can tell from casual observation there are only minor punch list items to be addressed. I don't know if it has been officially accepted as complete, but it probably is not as long there are outstanding punch list items.

Thanks for the update. Do you know the timing of the set-up of the temporary facilities and the demolition of the Cox Bldg.?

Last I heard during the Summer they will be setting up temporary facilities between now and the end of the year. I think they will demolish the Cox Building after the first of next year.

----The Cox sucks---well it is and I know that I am out-voted by EVERYONE, but it just seems like all the other sports and administrative offices could use it----I call on Helmut to see if there is any way to save it ----- with some outside pretty work and other modernizations!!!

I'm sure they could save the building but do they want to is the question.

I'm sure the Four Corners motel could be a part of the Hilton chain with some new mattresses, sheets, and carpets. Doesn't make it worth doing.

-----Point well made but it depends what your use of it is for---lol---I am not sure how they work the weight and rehab centers but it would seem to be a hell of a lot better with the FB program having that entire new building and having the other for the 10 or so other sports!!!
