Any chance he'll be playing for us?
Let me preface this by saying I hope that Marlin is at UL and winning for a long time to come, but if not, I am watching Alabama and LSU on TV right now and wondering if a guy on the LSU bench would not be a perfect guy for the job. Played 3 years at U(s)L and recruits well for LSU both locally and in Australia. Just a thought.

Hey, that's a great thought. Let LCA do all of the recruiting to collect all of the best basketball players in South Louisiana. Then we just make an under the table deal with them to send these players straight to UL! We can even set up a recruiting office at LCA. We won't have to spend any money on recruiting, so we can use the basketball recruiting budget against the master plan!
This may be a long post...
BOP, what makes you feel the need to shower when anyone mentions LCA? Do you have solid proof that something shady is going on over there? Do you have some sort of hatred for the school itself?
I'd suggest that as a local sports personality, and even more so as the "Voice of the Cajuns" that you probably shouldn't make public statements like that unless you are 100% sure that something outside of the rules is taking place. And if you are sure, and have proof, you should report it.
I know that you know Byron Starks personally. Maybe the two of you had some sort of personal disagreement? It sure would be interesting if Byron ever ended up as the HC at UL when someone reminds him of your statement. Or for any of these "recruits" that are holding scholarship offers from UL, I wonder what they think about your comment.
To everyone else. I find it fascinating how when anyone makes some sort of accusation that most people will jump right on the bandwagon and go forward as if everything they read or hear is the gospel truth. I know that the LCA basketball team is very good, and I've seen them play a couple of times. Three kids make that team what they are, the Ledoux twins and Greg Williams, all of whom did not arrive at LCA as high school athletes. The other kids on the team are hard working guys that play smart basketball. If you have 3 exceptional players on a high school basketball team, you will be pretty darn good. Add in a roster of hard working, team basketball players, and you will be great.
Galen Alexander played with the LCA kids in the summer. Is it out of the realm of possibility that he wanted to play HS ball with them? At a school that travels and plays regional top teams? For a coach like Byron Starks? In the facility that LCA has instead of Breaux Bridge?
I don't know the answer to those questions. But just because a kid, granted-an exceptionally gifted kid, transfers to play ball at LCA doesn't mean that the school and it's faculty are vile and disgusting. I keep reading (not just on this thread) how shady LCA is. And how it's run by a fascist "Napoleon" who make underhanded deals and recruits all of these great athletes. Is anyone aware that LCA has been around since the 1970s? Anyone know their record in football? Baseball? Does LCA only recruit in basketball?? Being compared to all of these schools with state title after state title is ridiculous. How many state titles does LCA have...in any sport?
Again, it takes 2 or 3 really good players to have a great HS basketball team. LCA happens to have 3 kids that are really good, and have been there for years. Who knows what LCA basketball will be when those 3, and now Alexander, are gone. Byron Starks has 2 sons that play on the team. Is that illegal? Can kids not go to school where their parents are faculty members?? Maybe they happen to have 3 exceptional players at the same time their exceptionally talented (when he played) coach has 2 high school aged sons. Is that possible?
Maybe LCA recruited Galen Alexander to come and play basketball. Maybe they are paying his tuition and they are the shadiest school in America. It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense though. They are nationally ranked and as close to a sure bet as you can get to win the Class A State Championship this year, without Galen Alexander. Once again, maybe he just wanted to play for Byron, in that facility, in those tournaments, with these players, and decided to transfer to LCA. I don't know for sure. But I would hope that all of the people who are making accusations and trashing everything about Lafayette Christian Academy are 100% sure about the things they are saying.
Sorry for the length.
I will paste my post from the other thread on Alexander instead of retyping it again.
I haven't heard Coach Mouton's or other coaches comments, but if their methods are violating LHSAA bylaws then file a complaint. But it's my understanding he has known Coach Starks for sometime and if it is within the bylaws, he should have the option of transferring after sitting out. I remember a football player named Javon Walker that lived one block from Northside and ended up at STM. I also remember the outrage from parents at that program and how STM had to defend themselves. Lets not pretend everyone transferred to STM for the education, there have been a few athletes that have played in the baseball and softball programs over the years that came from public feeder schools.
I heard similar things at Teurlings HS when Dylan Bossier followed D'Shaie Landor to play in the football program. Folks from Carencro were not to happy and made a number of allegations, none were found to be accurate after inquiries from the LHSAA.
I've had two children play high school sports, one at Teurlings and the other at Comeaux. I've seen it from both sides and people are always quick to make allegations. I believe if an athlete wants to transfer to another school, public or private and meets the requirements, I have no problems with it.
If I'm going to make a statement on here like some did, particularly one that involves a former Cajun star, I'd be man enough to be specific...with facts...or I'd shut up.
