I can only tell you what I heard and that it is going where Blackham is now.

Even if it is not Blackham is a dump and I hope we never have to play in there again. Although I know that is not the case. We will probably start the season in there due to the Cajundome renovations.

That and having to sit on a wooden bench that is far away from the court.

If we keep pumping out these home schedules, we can use EK Long for our games and have plenty of elbow room..

I think we missed a golden opportunity by not including a Blackham restoration/renovation/rebuild in the Master Plan.

We need to revisit the issue of a home for basketball that puts Cajuns basketball FIRST in priority and is more economically feasible.

What has happened to our once proud basketball tradition is a shame.

We should have something that becomes legendary. We deserve something that puts our memories of Blackham to shame. I don't want to accept that we need to forget those times and those teams.

We don't have to do that, and I will never stop believing in a new and even more intimidating Blackham.

Oh I do agree we need a basketball only facility. I do not think going back to Blackham is the option. Something needs to be built from the ground up.

What's your idea on where, how, or if even possible with the new facility?

My idea would take some money but I think would benefit both men's and women's basketball.
If I had the money I would build an arena that had two courts with suites in between the two courts and lockers underneath the stands. Women's arena would set between 2 & 3 thousand. Men's arena would hold between 5 & 7 thousand. I do not think basketball arenas are getting bigger. Make a demand for tickets.

The big advantage of the two arenas would be that both teams would be able to practice in their own arena. Also teams could warm up while the other one was playing. Games could still be spaced apart to allow fans to walk from one arena to the other but they would no longer be stuck in a locker room.

As for where it would go, I would put it across from Bourgeois Hall. Any overflow parking could still park at Cajun Field.

Sorry for the crude drawing but it was the best I could do right now.

Awesome idea with the 2 courts. It would also free up space in the IPF as there would be no need for that anymore.

We really have an enviable position. We own the land. There is adequate parking nearby. We have a motivated fanbase. It definitely should be added to the Master Plan.
