Again Blackham Coliseum is going away, it is the future site of the Heymann Performing Arts Center. The Cajundome charges $10K to move the floor to Blackham.

Are they going to tear it down and rebuild? If so, where did they get the powerball money to do that? To go from Blackham to the new Heymann would be such a waste of money.

To go from Blackham to the new home of Louisiana basketball would be a bargain in comparison.

Either way, there is enough space between Blackham and the Dome to erect a nice basketball facility. Plenty of parking at the stadium or at the intramurals. Draw up some plans and put it at the end of the Master Plan. Phase V or whatever. This would be a movement that would quickly gain steam, and when the economy rebounds could be in the plans for real.

Well, if scheduling basketball games at the dome is such an issue (and I don't doubt that it is), Bob should consider using Blackham for an OOC game or two each year if that makes scheduling easier. At least, it would give us more flexibility in scheduling. The atmosphere for the Evansville game last year was pretty good.

Basketball will play at least two November games in Blackham next year due to Dome renovations not being complete till December. Due to the Heymann sale, that may be the last games played there.

I thought the Master Plan diagram had the Performing Arts complex in the section between the LITE and the hospital off of Congress?

I can only tell you what I heard and that it is going where Blackham is now.

Even if it is not Blackham is a dump and I hope we never have to play in there again. Although I know that is not the case. We will probably start the season in there due to the Cajundome renovations.
