That's what we were discussing. I think Rusty came in via football, but he's the S&C coach for the entire athletic department. That's what most programs do.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but while Whitt is officially over all the programs, I believe his assistants tend to work closer with the other sports.

  3. Training Source: Whitt leaving Cajuns staff

For the second time this offseason, a long-tenured assistant on the Louisiana football coaching staff has left the program to accept a similar job in his home state. Rusty Whitt, part of the program since 2010, will become strength ...

Rusty is very likely getting a nice raise to be in the Big 12.
But we're not happy if we're not constantly _____ing about something! Even if we have to make ____ up.

Whitt was already on board when Hud was hired. Hud, in fact, wanted to bring in someone else, but Scott and David Walker said no. Hud said later it would have been a big mistake.

Hud will have a LOT of input on who will be next. But the final decision will be Scott's. My guess he will go with Hud's recommendation.

It amazes me how two guys can get a huge gig with a P5 school making a LOT more money and people have to suggest it's because we had a bad season.

Do you folks stay up all night thinking about ____ like that??

Congratulations to Rusty and Jay. They got new jobs because we got better while they were here.

    Bingo, and thank you.

I've been critical of the current advancement of our athletics (not moving as fast, or aggressively, as I would like) and of Martin Hall in regards to our conference affiliation "comfort" and the complete boondoggle the whole Louisiana Ragin Cajuns thing has been.

Let's look at this. Ragin Cajun football had seemingly been a coach's graveyard, with the exception of Brent Pry, who even he had to rebuild his cred a bit after he was fired from his DC job at UL. Now we've had two coaches, one a coordinator for an entire side of the ball, land P5 gigs, HUGE promotions and opportunities moving up from a Sunbelt program, OUR Sunbelt program.

Yet, some here want to claim that this is simply coaches jumping a sinking ship?? A sinking ship was the football program after the Baldwin years. Upon Bustle's last season, our football program appeared to be taking on water as well.

Yes, 2015 was a ____ty football season. Yes, I am concerned that we can get blown out by LA Tech two seasons in a row, one of those being a bowl season. However, this tide has taken a turn from 2010, and it's been for the better. The two recent career climbs by Coaches Johnson and Whitt prove that.

Here's hoping we've just hit a bump in the road.

Sooner than later our fans had better get used to coaches moving on. It doesn't always signal impending doom. Nor does it signal that anyone done anything wrong at UL. Maybe he just wanted to move on to another school a bigger challenge.

The sooner the fans decide to overcome little things like this the sooner we will progress as a program.

I would wager that if they read this board they are thinking the same thing.

This board cant seem to get over themselves lately.

Well I certain understand the trepidation. Especially for the older fans that have been put through the ringer.

But even I (yes, the ever pessimistic conspiracy theorist) can see that these departures are nothing more than bigger opportunities presenting themselves. Jay and Rusty were assessts and some other smart guys finally figured that out.

It comes with the territory. At our level, when we succeed, we'll have turnover.
