Gotcha. Haven't looked much into them leaving so didn't know all the details.

The NCAA's postponement of the announcement of final sanctions in the ACT testing situation is very worrisome to me. Are we in for much harsher sanctions than we thought? I fear that all of our assistant coaches will want to avoid being perceived as guilty by association with that ACT testing mess, and that they'll take the first train headed out of town.

I'm curious about the sanctions... but the two coaches in question are leaving for better opportunities. How would Whitt have anything to do with the ACT mess (even by association). And in all actuality, the only coaches that could possibly look "guilty by association" would be those leaving at this time. Rusty and Jay don't have a smudge on them. The NCAA looks for lack of institutional control following an infraction of this variety. That looks straight up the line from Saunders. I assure you that other staff were not complicit with Saunders. They would have been released following our internal investigation. Let's not throw gasoline on a fire we of all people need to contain.

Whitt seemed to really do a good job. I believe he'll leave behind a good system for his successor. I'm not really concerned that we cannot pick up where we left off. It might even be a good time for some new blood (no pun intended).

Strength and conditioning isn't a secret science. Pretty much every team is doing the same types of workouts, some may do more volume than others however. I think the main thing is to find a guy that is high energy, a good motivator, and can make kids buy in to his program. At the end of the day, each athlete is not going to get out what the put in.

Didn't Hud tell Whitt to back off some this pass season? I know I didn't see much running the stadium with the 60# sand bag on their backs.

I think he did in an attempt to limit injuries. I think it was a failed experiment and they'll be back to the old intensity this offseason.

Regardless of pay, someone with some good "stuff" is going to take the gig just based on the new weight facility.

Two troublesome issues with RW, one was the linemen looking like out of shape sumo wrestlers and the high occurrence of shoulder injuries this year. Sure, shoulder injuries are a part of the game, but I'll bet we had more than our fair share this year.

If we're going to blame him for shoulder injuries this year, he needs to be praised for lack of injuries the previous 4 years. It's just my opinion, but Whitt was a stall wort in our program's success since he's been here. Antics aside, the kids bought in to him. That's half the battle.
