You destroy defenses by making certain, if not all, defensive players make either the wrong decision... or making them hesitate to decide at the precious fractions of a second after the snap. The audience sees the success or failure (OMG that guy can run... or OMG that guy can throw it)... and the stats will tell you what box the data goes in. None of it writes the deep script that smart coaches today operate with. And it is having the threat of everything that makes any one thing succeed in today's complex game (if you are either trying to defeat parity in talent... or defeat better talent).
Absolutely, just pointing out Lynch wasn't a running QB..he was a f'n really good QB who could run his ___ off. He put up mobster numbers because he was really good at both, really smart and a had a great system that he understood how to take advantage of...dude was a heisman candidate, but like I said earlier he probably isn't the best example because his skill set is extremely rare.

Right on. I treat this signing like I treat every other signing: inconclusive. We'll revisit in 4-5 years.

But, it is good to get a what seems to be a hot commodity from the local area.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I said that teams that have had success against the big boys, with a running QB, were running true option offenses. Schools that run a spread that have had success against the big boys all mostly had QB's that were, at least, dual threats or better passers than runners.

Thay makes sense! I do stand by the QB being the true equalizer not the offense. Any G5 that's makes a run has a great QB.

It used to irk me when Jay W. would state the same, but I get it.

Personally I think the right stance is to sandbox and evaluate both periods of time separately.

But I get it, end of life evaluation/celebration is of more value than any birthday ... at least you hope so.

Get excited about a good or great signing class.....it is where it starts for a program....we all find out usually in 3 years how the class will pan out....after all, you can't make chicken salad out of......

If the sky isn't falling here then you know my friend it truly is the end of times.
