🎅🏿Friendly Holiday Debate🎅🏿 For those who saw both Gabe Fusilier AKA Fuse and T Begue play in HS. Who was better?

Friendly debate? This may not end up very well. Haha
I saw both kids play in high school. Both very good high school football players and somewhat similar. I'm not gonna choose who was better. Very close. There is often comparisons at the level of competition each school play on, on this board. Begue 4A ball vs Fuse 2A ball. I'll use my eyeball test on this one. Dead heat.

Fuse def faster. Fuse played in a wing T and begue an offense that throws it a lot more. I'll answer your question this way. If I were starting a team tomorrow and could pick only one I'd undoubtedly go with fuse.

Disclaimer I was not in CHNI or STM stadiums on many Friday nights during either career. Just going off of the few times I've seen the 2 play. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who saw them both on a regular basis.

Gabe was better in my opinion. His Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years was the spread offense with Mike Des as OC and his Senior year was Wing T. He was totally dominant in both. In addition, his Senior year he played a substantial amount of defense. He was/is bigger, faster and stronger. Merry Christmas to all!

There is a lot of local talent, there is a lot of local talent who think they are too good for this school as well. There is a lot of local talent who sit with their families during the holidays dressed head to tie in purple and yellow being told they are too good for ULL. We still fight a small time perception locally. We have offered several local athletes who go elsewhere. It's easy to point out the misses like Dugas...but there are plenty we wanted, offered but they didn't want us. For every Dugas story, there are 5 others we don't offer that go on to do nothing of impact at other places but nobody brings those up, probably because they don't know about them.
    Yep, it's true.

We all know recruiting high school adolescents is a guessing game. All I know is that I just want the best football players we can get on our team, local or not. It is a problem though when our coaches consistently mis-evaluate on players and/or don't offer a local and he goes on to be really good somewhere else. My thought is why do we lack talent on this team 5 years in under Hud and can he and his staff make changes to improve that outcome.

My perspective as well. I sure don't comprehend how we emptied our talent cupboard leading into year 5. I can only hope that Hud gets some technical coaching help over the offseason, and he recalibrates his recruiting model. I know for a fact we had injuries and terrible coaching this past season. A big talent void seriously confounds me. We have had absolutely nothing to attract talent in the vast majority of years... and we had damn good talent come to our program. Hud needs to allow some honest open evaluation of his methods before he doubles down on more of the same.

Attrition...if you go back and look at each signing class, most of the studs that made it a great class, never made it here.

Yup, Hud has always taken chances at signing "at risk" kids be it grades or questionable moral character. As I type this q. griffin is still in prison among others..
