Viator is the guy Bruno wanted.

But in reality, it doesn't matter. Unless ULM (and it starts with Bruno) is willing to make more than a lip service commitment to athletics (and he isn't) then this is a graveyard job, just as ours used to be.
Is this a Keasler II scenario?

Ok but they can't close the financial gap with those things to compete in fbs. So lose them, recalibrate, and attempt to compete at the lower level. Or better yet, go back to being a JC like they should be.

Neither has the support WMHS football has.

Nothing else comes close to football in getting a schools name out there.

If they drop football the student body will begin to contract within 5 years.
    What do you mean "begin"?

Their enrollment has been on a slow steady decline.

They've also closed or consolidated a number of their colleges.

True, as has good old Ryan St High: it too is in a death spiral from which it will be extremely difficult to recover from.

We should move to consolidate both into UL: the broke-backs due to proximity, and ULM because it is only logical that we are the only uni that could handle the growth.

Names could be UL-Mickeyneese, and ULM could keep thier present name.

If they didn't have the sports program that they do (however lacking) you would have seen a landslide of non growth.

The atrophy they have experienced is State budget induced.

---I heard the state Treasurer on the Moon show---Said we were in a hole and using rainy day funds and that the projection was based on a much higher per barrel income----ergo our system is in for a huge cut possibly----Hopefully we will be ok in not having to cut athletics as much as other schools---Anybody have the projected outcome of this!!!

i will correct myself. the university received approval from the national accreditation board to begin accepting students into the new york institute of technology school of osteopathic medicine. nyit will partner with asu in offering degrees in osteopathic medicine. classes in the new school will begin in fall '16 with up to 115 students enrolled. sorry for the misinformation.

What a coup. Did Bruno have a change of heart and open up the pocketbook?

Well, Berry was making 200k more than McNeese was paying, so he had wiggle room. Maybe they upped the recruiting budget, which was reported to be under 40k. And if they make a bowl, upped pb&j to grilled cheese.

All joking aside, this is probably the biggest hire ULMost has ever made given all the other issues like support and money. They blow it, the fun belt might be looking for a new member. This situation already screws them because you can't improve infrastructure without support. And you can't recruit without keeping up in the arms race. And this season's recruiting class will be garbage. Viator comes in with one year burnt before they even go to spring drills.

Think they should have hired the guy at Alcorn. He knows what a broken program and budget looks like, and built a winner, abet in the SWAC.
