In changing back to NLU, they should go to North Louisiana University. They do away with the double-direction name in Northeast and still keep the NLU tradition. Several folks on ULM's website are for the NLU name and dropping down to FCS status. It makes the most sense for them.

If that were to happen, surely UL has the political clout now to have the UL System Board approve our dropping "at Lafayette" as the ONLY school with the University of Louisiana name.

Just wondering, if our official name is the University of Louisiana ... at Lafayette, why does the university use these logos with just Lafayette and no "at":

His 2nd interview. I'd be surprised if he doesn't take it if it's offered.

Career suicide. Use it to get a pay raise at McNeese. There are better FBS programs to move up to.

Former LTUR president Reneau takes control of the ULS forget political might.

Maybe a great one in 2017.

I wouldn't if I were Viator. Much more successful at McNeese.

He won't get another chance to step up. This is it.

Plus from what I have read he already has 29 years in the Louisiana educational system, so by taking a bump in pay he will get a significant boost to his retirement.

If I were a betting man, he's getting his best offer and headed back to leverage the brokebacks. When you look at all the costs associated with moving, and being close to retirement, probably is in his best interest to stay in Lake Chuck.

I don't think ULM can move down. They can only move out.

The business of "dropping down to the FCS" is a fallacy. Schools drop the program before they move down.

In fact, since the mid 80s when the dust finally settled on the split, the number of schools that have dropped down is zero.

I told a friend in N. La last night if Bruno doesn't make a commitment to football soon, this is going to be their last football hire.

Schools have been moving "up" for a while now. You don't think at some point that trend moves the other way? Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it will not. I would be surprised if a school with as long a football tradition as ULM/NLU completely drops football. But it's pretty clear they can't keep up financially in FBS. Why not move down? Of course, I don't even think the school should exist at all, or at least not as a 4 year institution....too many 4 year colleges in Louisiana, especially in the empty northern part of the state. So there is that.

Well they lose 3 money games a year, tv revenue, and bowl distributions if they move down.
