True, whose to say the southland would even want them, plus they wouldn't be allowed to play spring sports in the sunbelt.

This would explain why T-Joe is backing off of the name issue for now. He's waiting them out. They drop football, it's over.

Of course, I don't even think the school should exist at all, or at least not as a 4 year institution....too many 4 year colleges in Louisiana, especially in the empty northern part of the state. So there is that.

No. I don't think the trend moves the other way. Teams with financial problems can't afford to move down to the FCS. See some of the above posts.

It will not happen becasue the Monrovians are too stubborn, but I disagree with you because:

If ULM moved to FCS, they would save money being in a bus league. (The SLC would probably welcome them.)

They would win more games and attract more fans. Many fans up there would not know the difference in the divisions.

20 less scholarships would save about 200K.

They could still play 1 money game, although the pay would be less. Their budget is already less than many FCS schools, so they basically are playing at a huge disadvantage.

Y'all are dreaming! ULM is not going to move down. If for any reason they stay FBS is to throw it in LaTech's face. Also was the name agreed to if UL supported them getting into the Sunbelt? I doubt if they dropped now, specially now we got what we wanted.

Playing down to FCS would take away 2.5 million in their athletic budget.

I say the biggest problem for ULM is that they are not consistent in putting together winning seasons. Worse thing for Tech is if ULM started winning. It isn't good for UL either, but even worse for Tech.

I honestly believe that ULM has more support then Tech does around Monroe. Problem is people support a winner, and gets great support for high school football. They need to focus there energy in winning games, and you would see attendance rise, more than Tech.

ULM will not drop football, this is their only marketing exposure angle.

Nothing else comes close to football in getting a schools name out there.

If they drop football the student body will begin to contract within 5 years.

It's gonna get worse. Fewer and fewer FCS opportunities for big paydays as those games hurt the teams trying to get into playoffs
