Im just really really really really hoping our baseballers don't have an off year ... I have had enough of false expectations. But im feeling pretty good about our chances in making the big tourney GEAUX ROBE!!!
Ok, I DVRed the game, just watched it, so I might have missed it. Why the hell we hit the panic button and started playing park ball?
The team needs to realize this is Long's team look at the last two lost they refuse to pass him the ball. There is no reason he should have 9 shots in a game. He played better against better competition but his team mates refuse to pass him the ball several times he was wide open. I also felt coach waited too long to call the TO when they made the initial run to take the lead then we got lazy on defense.
I'm really not sure why the offense was not running through Long today. We had an obvious mismatch in the post.
It looked like we thought the game was locked up and just stopped playing for a few possessions then we went cold and couldnt come back. Disappointing loss because it was against @Ruston but you have to take it for what it is. A non-conference game, equivalent to a mid-week baseball game. Our RPI will not be good enough for an at-large bid, so conference is really the only thing that matters.
Noticed that too. Our freshman played admirable in trying to check Long but I was surprised by how ULL guards weren't able to make entry passes (couldn't figure out angles). Alex Hamilton was the best player on the court, hands down. Glad to finally get over the hump with you guys. Definitely outplayed us the last couple of years.
The start of the season in basketball has been disappointing but let's not completely write off this team before conference gets really revved up. We're playing a style of basketball that leads to a lot of possessions, but we need to adjust occasionally for better shots -- getting Long the ball in the post against teams with no size -- and hit our threes. Threes and layups are the smartest shots you can take on a basketball court so I'm glad Marlin has realized that but 28% from 3 won't cut it, especially from a team that led the SBC in three point % last season.
