Speaking of keeping mascots alive.....where the hell is Cayenne the Pepper?!? It just disappeared & no one seems to know where IT is. I suspect foul play...someone needs to alert the USDA.

I agree with much of the above post. Richard is a good coach, we have struggled in non conference road games, and we generally do better when conference play starts. I partially agree with the weakness of the SBC. That is not entirely true however. Last year; Georgia State, ULM and the Cajuns all did well in post season play. This year several SBC teams are doing well in pre conference play. In fact overall, it may be doing as well or better than most of the mid major leagues. I won't argue that is a recent deal and not standard. That may indicate we will not do as well in conference play as in years past.

I hear ya. This is the first time I've ever even discussed the issue. I'm much more into evaluation than semantics. You guys that have been around for a while know that I try to shoot straight and have no disrespect for your institution as a whole. Good luck the rest of the season!

So Mike, where did we end up last season conference wise? We lost to the top of the league. The SBC had no NIT representative. Ga State pulled off an upset. ULM and us were in pay-in tournaments. Neither won. Sorry but outlasting a couple of SLC teams isn't exactly a huge improvement.

We lost the home tournament game. Not going with this conference being a mid major power. But if it is it won't be us as the regular season champ.

Reason there were no teams in the NIT was because Ga. State was the regular season champ. Of course they pulled an upset. Anytime a team from this league wins it is an upset. Sam Houston was a big win for the Cajuns as they lost only six games all year. The loss to Evansville was to the tourney champs and ULM also lost to the champions in their tourney. Not saying the league is a power. What I am saying is that it is not as bad as perceived. Of course it is not the Missouri Valley. Those people take basketball seriously You are right in that we probably won't win the league. UTA, Little Rock, Ga. State and ULM have all been more impressive than us in the early going. Unless we get more consistent guard play, problems will continue. We finished fourth last year. What had people encouraged is we won 11 of the last 13 with improved defensive play. In light of that, the fact that defense has struggled in the early going is more than disappointing.

---I praised the fired ex Tech coach some years back at his first Cajundome game----All of our losses have been to GOOD teams and yes all our wins have been to pushovers at home---but undefeated at home and winless on the road---Maybe Jay can give his usual very factual comments on the venue sites!!! We need to have some guys NOT PLAY---Make a decision and go with it--wish we would have done that with NIXON---would have been a much better FB season!!! I know you agree!!! lol

So Boomer I actually thought everyone who was at least remotely interested in basketball knew why we didn't have a NIT rep. Wait some of the better mid majors might have gotten an at large invite. Regardless of a single win by GaSt the SBC is a lower level NCAA conference.

We, the conference was lowly ranked. We the conference will be lowly ranked again.

Bobby Marlin ain't Bobby Knight. He's a OK coach for his conference. He's never gotten nor will he ever get UL where I think they actually can be. And no losing a game as the automatic SBC rep in the NCAA tournament isn't the only thing important.

That's his sole claim to fame. It took two mirical wins to even accomplish that

I was waiting for this nieve argument. Because you lose to good teams in horrific fashion didn't make football good and that goes double for basketball.

Marlin must be giddy after every game. He just keeps cashing those paychecks that UL keeps throwing at him and hopes that nobody in the athletic department actually goes to a game to see what a poor coach he is.

I can't say we agree much but I would agree with the rotation. I've noticed this for some time, even before Marlin. Its so hard to develop chemistry in a team when you are splitting minutes with 10 other guys. I think Marlin should narrow down the rotation a tad as it takes a lot longer to develop chemistry when playing 10+ guys.

You have to run the offense through Long. You want to get open jumpers on the perimeter? Run the ball through the low post and set your shooters up accordingly. You just need to have more consistent play from the guards as well. Those guys have lapses that just kill this team's momentum. Jay Wright is an X factor. When he plays well, this team typically plays well. When he's out of control and missing shots, we are usually disjointed.

I give credit to Tech in that game. They made shots. Its that simple. They all of a sudden made shots from everywhere and when they missed, they were killing us on the boards. They also got more out of every trip since they were nearly perfect from the FT line in the second half
