We had growing pains from stuart to Willis and they ran the same scheme. How can you ask kids to buy in to your system and believe in it if you don't? ___ happens...and it just happened. We were a handful of plays from being 2-10...4-8...6-6 or 7-5. We changed an entire staff and system...not 1 defensive holdover. There was not 1 coach who could translate to the players the verbage from last year to this year...the entire system was Greek to them. it's hard to be fundamental when you are second guessing where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to be doing.
The only problem with that post is that they don't have the BASIC fundamentals down. Day one stuff

I'm not saying they are world beaters and don't have problems or need to address things. That's also a problem with coaching in the SEC for 20 years...you don't have those guys here. If we look like that again next year, I'll be the first one showing them out the door but I'll at least give them a chance to get the guys they recruited on the field. Not the guys that were recruited to a soft zone. I'll at least see what he can do with a healthy lineup... Hoe about the same lineup at least 2 weeks in a row? Right now, they are having exit interviews and recruiting, what else can they do right now? Our defense looked really good in the spring... We know now and the coaches now know why. Let's see if they can use their juco ties to immediately fix this.

That's pure bs. You picked Bama to tell me we ain't Bama. Stokley took Bama to the wire. That Bama team one year away from a national title. I counted USA. We're.500 against. South not outstanding, that's who we compete with. Seems you think we're further down the list. Ain't so. It's on each head coach.

Was stokley in the sunbelt? You realize the end of Stokleys career is the beginning of our very bad stretch of perception we are overcoming? By the way..what did stokley do when he didn't have jake or Brian? 2 NFL players? Did stokley take Alabama to the wire with brooks haack or jalen Nixon? Did HUD take Florida and Arizona to the wire when he had a good QB? Did HUD launch us into the largest facility upgrade in our schools history or did stokley? Would it make you feel better if HUD convinced the state to hire authement back? This season is on the coaches, those same coaches who gave you expectations in the first place. I haven't heard anything from HUD that says this isn't on him. Again, what do you want? Would like me to get you a meeting with the staff so you can point out their deficiencies and make sure they are on it?

No one can sugar coat this year's defense. However I did like the defensive adjustments in the second half. If the offense would have performed like previous Hud's teams, UL is preparing for a bowl game.

Just a note: There were 40+ fewer D1 teams to recruit against in the Stokley era.

Injuries that caused 12 different starting lineups, how is any of this on Melvin smith? Oh and our best DB since Bentley and white is currently committed to Melvin smith. I know everyone likes to sit behind their keyboard with their pitchforks but damn man...it was a down year, at a historically very bad football school in a bad conference...get over it. We aren't f'n Alabama. Sound like a bunch of f'n cold and hungry women.
Who is that CB crazy? I am not in the loop.

Just a note pretty sure the 85 scholarship limit came late in stokley's career. So teams could sign as if there were more.
