This hole allowed players to run the ship. Lee had no leeway.
After the 05-06 season Walker made Lee make changes, which killed APR, and Lee was forced to emphasize high school kids.

Walker didn't force anything. It needed to get done. Lee did it with Walker backing him.

    That's how I remember it.

Lee did what Walker demanded knowing full well that going the high school route was going to cost him many wins.

He had Walkers assurances that he would not lose his job. Lee never recovered.

This is correct, and why he was given time to turn it around. Had he continued with poor APR the program would have been in much worse shape. This is why I commented earlier in the week that marlin inherited a better situation, academically and financially, than Lee did in 05. Talent and wins may have been lacking but that was due to having to straighten up the academics and bring in quality kids.

Walker never demanded it. It needed to get done...and Lee knew it.

Transfers were not the cause of the APR problem, the wholesale dismissal of transfers was the problem.

Unless Walker had a hand in the debacle, why would he praise Lee throughout the A.P.R. nightmare?

This river of players through the program was not a problem under Evans and Schexnayder. But suddenly a D1 coach in Lee's position suddenly gets the bright idea of his own volition, "I can do this with nothing but High School players? There was nothing in his coaching pedigree to suggest that this was remotely possible.

This was a drastic step induced by his boss when he took the helm with the edict to clean up the basketball program.

A few years later Walker said APR was confusing. I don't think he gave it any thought (or understood the outcome) when he first had Lee flush the players.

I don't think this was Lee's idea and is why Walker praised his actions.

I didn't say he came up with the idea of his own volition. I said that he knew it was needed...Walker was of the same opinion...he went forward with it. To say that "Walker forced him to do it" is not what happened.

Mike Bernard just said on KPEL AM that he heard rumors about UL vs LSU in the NIT. That would be a battle between the two worst coach's in the NCAA.
