And this is with an NBA player on the roster.
Pretty much what I've been saying since Bobby Big Fish's 2nd season.

---I had never seen a lady basketball game until I became the men's coach at St Louis HS---later I coached and helped some ladies' teams---So much alike but so different---My great coach who had a book published last year on his career (Kevin Trower) wound up at Chapelle in NO after years in HS and college men's bball---First game he gets ready to go in the locker room at half and the girls stay outside---He doesn't know what is going on and finds out they always wait for the dancers' routine first!!!

We are pretty solid inside. Not so much outside. Shooting is so inconsistent and our defense is spotty as best. Sometimes we lock down; not so much later. Guard play is the key for our team and it is not what we need right now. Don't know answer for sure. Pointed out before but our % on shots at guard position is really bad particularly at away games. And the real shame is the kids are such fine young men. Hate for them not to succeed. But, gosh, we need shooters and consistent defense on the perimeter. Painful to watch.

We are two thirds into the season. I think it is clear from attendance and from this board that the fans want a change. How do we get the administration to make the change?

I stopped going to the games. I will not renew my season tickets (because I don't need season tickets to see the this team). I'm sending my message through my seats. How do we all do it together?

You could flood them the administration with emails of your opinion and continue to support the team.

    Wins:
    Mississippi College (Exhibition)
Louisiana College (Exhibition according to the LC website)
Loyola (Exhibition according to the Loyola website)
    McNeese State
    New Orleans
    Spring Hill (Exhibition)
    Appalachian State

    Losses:
    Miami (by 16)
    Alabama (by 12)
    ULM (by 11)
    LA Tech (by 12)
    UCLA (by 9)
    Pepperdine (by 20)
    UALR (by 20)

Our record is 3-7 taking out exhibition games (we are reporting it as 5-7 for some reason). Our losses are by an average of 14 points. To make our team look better than they are UL Sports information is including the statistics from all the games. They are even reporting a scoring differential of +4. Steals per game are reported as 8.1 for us and 5.8 for our opponents. Our shooting percentage is .451 when we are nowhere near that against "real teams".

It's time that we start to ask out athletic administration to look at the facts. They made a mistake with Coach Marlin. He is a very nice man. I'm sure he treats his players well. We gave him a raise because expectations were that he was going to bring us a great team. He has an NBA first round prospect on the team and we are still losing by double digits, and our last two games by 20.

Some people on this thread were asking us to wait until further into the season to start asking for the coaching staff to "walk the plank". Now I'm asking for the Athletic Administration to join them on the "plank". If we are in a position where football will be on probation, our record expectations for them for the next couple years will join the football team at a below .500 level.

So what is the difference between our men's athletics now and the Pre-Hud/Marlin days? Now we are paying much more for our bad teams. So is it time to start holding Scott Farmer responsible for our current basketball/football/NCAA violation status?

In my opinion, UL stopped being a basketball school several years ago. Not sure exactly when it happened... Robert Lee's term didn't help...but it happened.

I agree Scott Farmer is at the head of all success and now current failure within the athletic department. His response is crucial.

Please note, though, that putting this on a message board may make one feel good, but in reality does nothing to effect the desired outcome...no more so than all the prior such postings over the past few years.

I really don't like the mentality that appears to be embraced by Marlin, some local media and apparently the administration of all that matters is the tournament and the goal is to be playing your best ball in March. Imagine if baseball and softball thought this way? Why it is very difficult and improbable that we get an at large right now in this league, that is no reason to accept it. That is no reason to not strive to build a program that has that kind of national respect. This whole thing feels like we know our place, we accept our place and we will make a ton of excuses along the way. Meanwhile our ladies coach has taken a far worse program and going on the road beating sec teams and defending champs, something apparently in men's according to some is just impossible to do. I'm critical of a lot of things but I usually always go to every game no matter what, I've found it really easy lately to convince myself to miss basketball games.

What would work in your opinion?

IMO if you are boycotting games, plan to not renew, and cancel or reduce your RCAF donation you should send your reasoning for your actions directly to the CEO of UL.

    Make sure t-jo knows WHY.
