Thread: Is Bob Marlin's seat even starting to warm up?

  1. Default Re: Is Bob Marlin's seat even starting to warm up?

Again you're right Mike. Support of the players who we recruited is a good thing.

I'm just saying that support is not distinguished from coach support by FarmerBROWN. Frankly I don't trust the administration to do a better hire. So there's that too.

Keep in mind that guys like Kasey Shepherd, Bryce Washington, Jonathon Stove, and Steven Wronkowski are quality young men and good students. I am sure that there are others on the team as well you can say the same about.

Just keep on pretending we're only one player away.

That guy boycotting is actually doing more to help the program than you. You're the do nothing administration perfect dupe.

Man you have a hate problem of some kind and AGAIN

I didn't say that we were one player away

So Boomer you called out a guy who has an idea of getting the attention of the administration. You can't support your Mariin man crush so you want me to be anti Robe. Marlin and Robe should never be equated.

Hud? Moderate success, great bowl sucess. Maybe, probably headed in the wrong direction. You cannot support this years cluster buck. Yeah you probably could except he quit on your winning quarterback.

By the way, congratulations on your suddenly being able to write a coherent paragraph.

I find it amazing potential recruits (student AND professional) still choose us if they see this board first, because it would be easy to mistake it for a "Cajunized" version of Tiger Droppings. Yes, boycott the school. That's true support; I'm sure that is the way to help a program. Have fun with that, and stew in your negativity. It rings of the "I'll support the program when...."

Meanwhile, those of us who have (in one form or another) had season tickets for the past 30+ years will keep supporting the program through thick and thin.

We held our own against what was then #22 in the country (UCLA), then looked sloppy against Pepperdine. Admittedly, we are inconsistent, but we usually are until January. Even casual fans know that.

The disdain on this board for "moral victories" (such as the UCLA game) is incredulous when compared with what could be considered the "moral losses" (such as last night's game against UNO - I admit, we should have waxed the floor with them, and didn't). Oh, but that's right... you only care about wins and losses......

But if wins and losses are all you care about, along with winning conference (regular season or tourney), then those of you who insist on staying negative will continue to note we are at the bottom of the conference. Those of you who don't write off a season before it's really gotten into the thick of it will note the entire conference has had ONE game played: ours versus ULM.

I'm not saying this team will win the conference. I'm not saying they are gonna lose out. I'm saying that the majority of you are trying to predict the future, then predict doom and gloom, and then demand the head of the coach for not accomplishing "anything" before we've gottento the critical part of the season (yeah, he hasn't accomplished much, except for all that post-season play in 2012, 2014, and 2015, ending a 6-year drought of post-season play, even if you COUNT previous years' post-season appearances which were freaking vacated). Oh, wait, I'm sorry, I forgot: you folks are stingy enough that you actually want to turn down anything less than NIT, because that's not REAL post-season play.

The armchair second-guessing that goes on in the confines of this board make me admire the Star Wars geeks who criticize X and Y in the movies, because at the end of the day, even they have the perspective to realize they are just movies.... and this is just a game.

    Merry Christmas

I'm sorry you wasted your time (and all of ours) crafting this post.
Borderline moronic, and absolutely the most ridiculous view of our basketball team I've ever read.
I can glean from your words that you either do not watch the team play, or, you have no idea what the hell you are looking at. By your ending statement, I can also tell that you probably have never competed in an organized sport, nor do you have a competitive bone in your body.

"It's just a game". Give me a ____ing break.

You did not state a single 'fact' in your post, Sir.

The true hard cold fact is this. Whatever team gets hot and wins the conference tournament will get the bid. A team could win all their regular season games in the SBC then stumble in conference tournament. The rest, well, at best the NIT or lesser tournament. Which a few thousand fans were happy the Cajuns ended up somewhere last year.

So, expecting to win 1 or 2 games on that kind of road trip with an NBA talent on the roster is asking too much? Pepperdine was RPI #149 guys. They destroyed us.

Had we showed well against those teams, pulled out a couple of wins, and dominated this SBC, like many expected to do.. We could absolutely earn an at large bid.

Our program has fallen even further than I thought.

No, I agree with you, we should have showed up better against Pepperdine. Pure and simple. But one game does not a season make.

Let's review for the class, shall we?

A simple perusing of the Basketball team's Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisi...all#Postseason) will demonstrate the facts I supplied regarding our post-season play.

Those of us who are enterprising enough can even (gasp!) click on the links provided therein to look at our past records in terms of where we are in the season this year versus past years.

If you have been going to the games, you have seen the inconsistencies I mentioned, which, even when compared with simple stats, can tell a different story. The bounce (or lack thereof) in a player's step... their ability to handle the ball well on one night versus clumsily the next.... etc.

As someone who has referred to this era as "The worst period of Cajuns basketball in our history, including the Death Penalty" (https://forumeus.com/...t=manabouttown), and who makes blanket statements like "Our program has fallen.... etc.," I fear it is you who are short on facts.

And so you rely on statements such as "I can also tell that you probably have never competed in an organized sport, nor do you have a competitive bone in your body." Once I read this, I could easily ascertain that you are perfectly content to simply lob some clearly unfounded insult at a person with an opinion because, once again, ad hominem attacks are pretty much the way to go. I guess we simply have to assume that you were a Heisman trophy winner because you got a RaginPagin account and learned how to type, eh?
