Our team is 0-6 to start the season verses real competition. The Fun Belt comes in now and it looks like we will be 6th or 7th in conference.

    The questions now are:

    1) will we get 10 wins in conference?
    2) will we finish with a losing record?
    3) how long will it take for the Marlin apologists to realize we don't have a real coach?

I guess the big question now is About Scott Farmer. Did he get over excited about football and basketball and raise the pay and extend contracts to two coaches who really are not that good? Perhaps his seat needs to heat up a little!
I agree Scott Farmer's seat needs to be HOT! I have been underwhelmed by his talents and vision for our future. We need a real AD.

I said this when Farmer gave him the raise! He did nothing to deserve that type of raise. He flirted with SMU and a few others and played Farmer into giving him a raise.
From J.J. and Laron, to Elfrid to Sean Long, this guy has not done anything spectacular outside of the Sun Belt Conference

He hasn't done anything spectacular in the SBC...he won 3 games, barely, in a conference tourney with a lottery pick.

We're so ordinary in a bottom tier conference. Nothing else needs to be said.

Our Current RPI #268 (out of 351)

Our record is 1-6 against the teams listed in the Division 1 (351 teams). On the Cajuns Website they have 3-6 but two of the victories they are claiming are against teams in lower divisions. If we are going to ask why Alabama football gets credit for playing Middle Tennesse, ULM, and Charleston-Southern, then we need to hold ourselves to the same standard.

    Our victories are over:
    McNeese #329

    Our losses are to:
    Miami #38
    Alabama #15
    ULM #132
    LATech #79
    UCLA #42
    Pepperdine #149

Why does Louisiana College show the UL vs Louisiana College Game as an EXHIBITION game, but on UL's website we claim that as a victory that counts toward our overall record? (http://www.lcwildcats.net/schedule.aspx?path=mbball)
Loyola also shows our game as EXHIBITION, but UL claims that as a victory as well. (http://wolfpack.loyno.edu/mens-basketball/schedule)

We have 20 games left plus the Sun Belt Tournament. Going back to the beginning of this thread most people were asking for 20 victories and being competitive in the first round of the NCAA.

Time to revise those picks is NOW before conference starts

WHAT ARE YOUR NEW EXPECTATIONS OF THE BOB MARLIN COACHED CAJUNS?

Lets at least get a little larger sample size.

Pre-Conference record of 1-6 so far with exhibition wins over 3 lower division schools.

    Is it still to early?

First of all. Alabama playing an FCS school is still playing a 1A team. We're playing NAIA and Non 1A schools.

As to different classifications to the games. Ruled by different governing bodies. They classify as exhibition we calling a win. I'm good with that. I just think we're fooling nobody with puffed wins. Marlin can pump his resume while doing nothing. This upsets me.

It seems the ethics would be that the larger school (us) would call it exhibition. No, Marlin & Farmer want to claim wins. I can see claiming a win in baseball or softball against a small school, but not in Football or basketball. In diamond sports a good pitcher can shut down a team.

Advertisement just got here via Email. Forget going to basketball games for basketball. Now you go to see Santa.

I guess I would not be so concerned if our team's performance has not been to bad. Let's do whatever is necessary to sell a few extra tickets.

The season has barely begun, and some have already written the season off. Pathetic.

If we would have gotten wins against those huge schools, that would have been nice. But we all knew it would take a conference tournament win to get into the big dance.

We have played ONE conference game against a team which, historically, has played us well (as loathe as I am to admit it). ONE game.

During the 2013-2014 season, at this point, we were 8-4, having played NO conference games. We had also lost to Arkansas, Baylor, Louisville, and Jackson State. We finished 23-12, with that final loss being to Creighton in the NCAA tournament.

    So, to answer your questions:

    1) What is an acceptable final season record for this team? Ask me after the Sunbelt Tourney.
    2) What is an acceptable finish in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament? Everyone would love to win it all, but I don't think finishing in the top three is unreasonable.
    3) Is our season not successful if we are not in the NCAA Tournament? Someone will always "female dog" over so-called "moral victories," but sometimes the better team wins. I don't think this is a black or white answer. But if that's what you want, then No. Our season can still be a success even if we are not in the NCAA tourney.
    4) If we make the NCAA Tournament how far do we think this team SHOULD go? Again, ask after the Sunbelt tourney. Too many unknowns right now.
    5) If we do not make the NCAA Tournament what is an acceptable finish in a second or third tier tournament? Depends on the tourney, depends on who else is participating. Again, too many unknowns.

The only prediction worth making at this point is that we will have some rain on December 21, 2015.

With this crap schedule we should win 25 games. If it's not the NCAA or NIT the. We shouldn't participate.

Bob Marlin has been barely better than Eobert Lee. We are in a lower tier basketball league and we should expect 25 wins every year and never accept any season sub .500.
