I also helped out in a minor way with the effort to help some players go on overseas trips this past summer. When asked to help out, I suggested placing a notice on Ragin Pagin about this project and asking if anyone else wanted to help. Response from the staff was we cannot do that due to NCAA rules. Apparently, direct personal requests are OK but online solicitation is not. That was news to me.

Why not mail out a separate donation card with season ticket invoices. On this donation card, you can select the following:

Yes, I'd like to donate "X" amount for the following:

    A) Home scheduling ("Buying teams")
    B) Charter traveling
    C) Player development (Offseason/Overseas/etc)
    D) Basketball offseason benefit(s)

**In layman's terms, the athletic program can explain what the goal is for each of the items listed on the donation card and information on why it's important or why it's needed**

I know some of this falls into your RCAF donation....but does it really?

The worst thing that can happen is it gets tossed in the trash. The best thing that can happen is donations due to awareness of needs.

I don't attend Rebounders meetings like I do for QB Club and Diamond Club, but a normal season ticket holder would never know that these things are desperately needed because like all things, it's SUPPOSED TO BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE and it' s not discussed in the open, just in closed "circles."

I think what Scotto 25 suggests here is a good idea. Scotto, why don't you email Mike Murphy with the recommendation along with some elaboration on it. His email is mmurphy@louisiana.edu.

The way you raise money is for Marlin to meet with active loyal alums and businesses. Asking for a broad funding isn't gonna get you the time of day.

9 wins in a row was impressive, but now we are back to business as usual. We will finish 2-5 in our last 7 regular season games. We will win one in the tournament.

    What about next year?

Like is says on the shampoo bottle...... RINSE AND REPEAT.

No season tickets for me next year, or any year until Bob Marlin is no longer our coach. I will take that money and buy more baseball tickets if any are available.

I get that you're upset, and I'm psd too. But we still have a great player on our team, and this is still the sunbelt. We can make a run.

We can't crush Marlin when we're losing, not give him credit when we're winning, and then pounce again when we loss one that we have no business losing.

Having said that, I just can't wrap my head around Marlin's tenure. This is an experienced roster with possibly the best player the SunBelt has ever seen.. If you can't win the league with Shawn Long and EP, how will you win it? Very disappointed.

It's easy to grasp. He isn't a good recruiter and he isn't a great coach.

Our biggest rival, La Tech, has more wins in the last 4 years than Markin has in his entire tenure here. That is unacceptable.

Can we suspend Marlin for the rest of the year without pay?

I've seen this scenario play out for a host of coaches. They're retained longer than some of the more vocal opponents want, and at some point in the future there's a separation.

Honestly there seem to be certain "deja vu all over again" experiences with different presidents, coaches, and fans that transcend eras and we attack the tip of the iceberg without addressing a common denominator beneath the surface.

Certain results happen for a reason, and I suspect that we haven't uncovered that reason.

There's always a joker in the deck, a fly in the ointment, etc, that we're not turning up prominently in these discussions. We really need to find out the root cause of some of our problems before buying out too many $400k contracts.

    Everybody wants to win.

I wonder how many "Butts in seats" we had at our home basketball games verses how many "butts in seats" there will be for softball during the course of this season? A fan base for women's softball should never be as big, and more vocal, than a men's basketball fan base. Perhaps Mike and Bob need to trade salaries (and budgets)!
