Thread: Is Bob Marlin's seat even starting to warm up?

Funroe makes me nervous, but they have always played well against us... at least in their house. I'm hoping we can tar-and-feather them here on Tuesday.

    This is exciting stuff.

I agree. There is a time and place for everything.

There is even a T&P for the sky is falling on UL basketball, but the middle of a 6-game winning streak ain't it.

I certainly understand oldalum and others issues with Marlin. Im baffled by his subs and timeouts at times but its not like the guy is costing us games right now. It seems like lsu has a guy that actively tries to lose them games. I always want our University to achieve to its potential and we should always have high expectations but they also need to be grounded in reality. I am enjoying this streak and will continue to support this team and this university.
I picked us fourth or worse in this cupcake conference. We currently sit at two, and if we lose to MoanRow we will be in fourth behind ULMost and stAte. Now when I picked us fourth I believed UTA would be healthy, but they lost their most important player and that is fine. You are whatever you are injuries or not, but just think about losing Long for a second. It turns out Hunter is not all that good at GSU once his NBA son opted for the draft.

No doubt it will be difficult to catch Lil'Rock as we would need help, and we've got a couple of tough road series. Clearly we have a decent chance of having only three loses, but five is far more likely. If we end up with four loses it'll be interesting to see how things work out. There is no doubt UL is beating the c*(p out of the bad teams and even the pretty good ones in the conference.

IMO, a healthy UTA team doesn't beat the Cajuns at home this past Saturday. My opinion on Marlin is still up in the air, but I'll admit, the man was correct when he said "if our shooters make shots, we're hard to beat". That can be said for many teams, but it is particularly true for this group. Add that to Washington learning to manage his injury, a much more confident Hedgemen, and making our free throws at this clip, we could have won 1 maybe 2 of those games early in the OOC road trip.

I know a few Old Alum's and they love the past when we knew our place.
I have no idea where this came from but I hate the evil empire 55 miles to our east. You will never find me saying nice things about the P&G when comparing them to the Cajuns. I Will support the Tigers when they play teams from out of the State of Louisiana, but I will support any team from Louisiana when they play against LSU.

I blame them for our name difficulties, and I blame them for the issues over the years between the Cajuns and Tigers in the diamond sport disputes.

We can almost lock 2nd with three wins in the next three games. Two pretty good good teams ULMOST and stAte. Road trip from hell.

I'm hoping the confidence we've gained from winning will follow us on our next roadie. I think winnin on the road becomes more attainable as the season progresses anyway.

And while I agree that few southern mid-majors would have better attendance, its worth pointing out that there are no southern mid-majors who are consistent top 100 teams.

BTW, that team that was on TV Saturday has an RPI of 80.
No way in hell are we a Top 60 team. We have a top 30 front court talent wise when healthy. But our guard play is low mid major quality. The Sun Belt is a bad league. We should blow throw this league every year.

OOC is where you judge how good you are and all signs point to Long and Washington being monsters in the middle and everyone else is mediocre.

Pretty sure most of the top basketball schools each year win their home games and 50% on the road. It's very tough to have all your high RPI games every year on the road and expect to win them.

That's the big difference between mediocre teams and good to great teams. Good/great teams win on the road OOC.

I hated the retention of Robert Lee and really didn't like the Marlin hire. I'm pretty sure you can look at my post history and find that to be true. When you hire the right coach you know it almost immediately. When you are in year 5 or 6 and you're still hoping your coach is the right guy then he isn't.
