I'd be happy for them if they got an invite and used the extra prep time to get a head start on next year. I as a fan wouldn't attend, though.

I'm not so sure about that. I think many P5 schools would decline. Missouri already made it known that they would decline if invited with a 5-7 record.

What COULD have happened was, the NCAA could have told the conferences, "if you have a slot open in a contracted bowl you can fill it with one of your 5-7 teams. In THAT case, it could have happened with a win over Troy.

    Moot point now.
    Jay,

What did the NCAA say about the situation?

Based off of APR and if I remember correctly we are 8th or 9th of the teams that would be 5-7.

By the way, I'm still sipping on that "Jefferson's Ocean"! Good stuff.

I noticed that Jefferson's Ocean voyage 5 is out, I have not tried it yet. I did get a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 10 year old yesterday. It helps to be a regular at some of these liquor stores.

The real question should be do we deserve it? Even if it was available to us, I would like to know how many fans would truly be excited to go to NOLA or Mobile and take part in a bowl knowing our team stunk it up all over the field this year. If you can't beat NM State, you shouldn't be allowed in a bowl. I know that my interest level has been at an all time low and I'm not even upset, in fact i'm kind of relieved, to not be able to attend the game this weekend. A 6-6 cajun team that might have had to fight some injury and youth issues but having showed signs of good things to come would have interested me but not this team.

Well Hud said himself that a 5-7 team doesn't deserve a bowl game but he would accept it in a heart beat. Again, we would be stupid to decline an offer to any bowl..period.
