Thread: Goin' bowling? Cajuns would.

  1. UL Football Goin' bowling? Cajuns would.

Louisiana football coach Mark Hudspeth isn't a fan of a 5-7 team going to a bowl game. But he's not going to turn one down if his team by some miracle is offered one of those spots."Someone asked me today would I feel bad going to a...

  2. UL Football Could the Cajuns go to a bowl at 5-7?

The chance of it actually happening seems quite slim, but UL could go bowling with a win over Troy

I DO agree with this statement from HUD:
“I don’t think anybody deserves it at 5-7,” Hudspeth said. “I don’t think 6-6 deserves it, personally. But if that were to happen, we would use that as great preparation time to develop kids for next season. That’s the most important thing about bowl preparation: You get that extra time with your younger players. We’d be excited about having more practice opportunities and getting better as a team. I wouldn’t feel bad at all.”

ANY extra time to start developing our younger players (esp. QB) would be beneficial!

    Yep, flawless perspective.

If somehow UL gets to 5 wins and then a bowl invite, a win would equal UL's second best win total in the last 22 years.

What bowls are likely to invite a 5-7 team? I am sure it will be a destination that many fans will want to make the trip to.

Man, this is going to test some fans! It very well could happen; I just expect any 5-7 team invited to be coming from one of the major conferences.

This article was written before the NCAA released its plan to fill the bowls last night.

What COULD have happened was, the NCAA could have told the conferences, "if you have a slot open in a contracted bowl you can fill it with one of your 5-7 teams. In THAT case, it could have happened with a win over Troy.

    Moot point now.

How'd four years of extra prep work out this year.

I know one thing for sure, UL won't ever "pull a Tech" on a bowl invite.

We better go while we can. With so many bowl games, losing records no longer an issue (which reduces a bowl to a coke and trophy, hence apathy), and ESPN in decline, the bowl landscape will be different in a decade.
