Our luck and maturity will be better next year.
BUt Hud 's guys caused this bad season.... HUDS RECRUITS... If we have issues with staff or players its soley on his million dollar shoulders.. Yes we have every right to demand more . This year is pathetic and a sorry ___ step back that has left us the laughing stock of the bottom feeder conference we are in. BS

Never said we shouldn't expect more..nor did I say this wasn't a step back, but, like I said in other posts, when you have so many injuries through out the year it can't help but cause issues that are at most extremely difficult to over come by a program with 4 good years of depth behind them. Remember it was only last year that we could really begin building depth.

I just don't think that you can explain this season without touching, in a major way, the intangibles that the coAches and players have no control over.

With all that being said, I will expect more depth and maturity next year. And I really hope allows both Nixon and Haack to transfer and start Davis.

We had a down year this year. There aren't but a handful of mid majors that don't go through that.

If it becomes a trend, then we talk.

But I don't think it will.

ANd, yes, I AM enamored with four straight New Orleans bowls. Because in this league, it's the best we can do unless we go 12-0.

What I don't understand is why you aren't.

I'm disappointed in the season. I didn't expect us to win eight games, but this is disappointing.

Having said that, I believe we will be better next year.
I didn't say I wasn't happy with the success of bowl victories. I'm also not small potatoes enough to be satisfied. I've said this before: when we hired Hud, the message was conference championships and top 25 caliber team. That was from his mouth. I was IN at that point. 4 NOLA bowls later, we haven't even competed (except for Florida, in which his conservatism cost us the game) with quality teams. That San Diego St team we beat in the first bowl game was the best team Hud has beaten.

Now you're telling me it cost a million bucks for a coach that needs pristine conditions to win 8 games in the sun belt? I realize some things have gone poorly this year. Things that aren't anyone's fault. But the regression of a culture, players, systems, drive and down right knowing how to win is no mistake Jay. The guy lost the locker room in week 4. How the hell can that be allowed to happen??
Egregious errors have been made, throughout the season. There is no way in hell this team should be sitting with 4 wins (and lucky to have 4) in this league, with this talent, with this schedule. You can make all the excuses you want, many things that have transpired this season are unacceptable.

Hudspeth doesn't get a pass because he took us to bowl games. The message needs to be, don't get comfy coach. The seat will be hot when it comes to those that have paid attention to this season.

Yes, the AAC has had a great year, but it finished behind CUSA last year. I'll have to see the AAC string three or four seasons like this year's together before I'm ready to anoint them as a pseudo P5 conference. There were several years where the WAC had multiple teams in the Top 25, yet that conference completely imploded and doesn't even exist in football anymore.

I also am in the over 50 group ... don't think you know what you are talking about.

In fact, we are the ones that do know most of what we are talking about AND we have gone through the most pain to get to where we were.

    Think before you type.

I'm assuming you're addressing me. I said most of the over 50 crowd. MOST. 10 people on RP doesnt speak for the majority.

The statement is true. There are a boat load of older fans that think 9-4 with a NOLA Bowl appearance is just fine. They are not interested in the progress the younger generation speaks of.

Injuries were never a problem for this team. Personnel, coaching, and recruiting were a problem for this team. Well coached teams take injury problems in stride. Michigan State has a friggin NFL caliber QB...who didn't play against Ohio State...AND THEY WON. Good coaches deal with the intangibles they are given, bad coaches make excuses and grasp at straws to try and find a solution when they don't have one in mind to begin with.

If Hud doesn't step away from micromanaging this team...nothing will change. If Hud doesn't change his recruiting style away from glorified athletes he has no clue where to put on the field...nothing will change. We can all be like Jay and relish the good times, because those bad times were so bad, or we can demand more from a guy we pay $1,000,000 to move this program in the right direction. One of those keeps us right were we are...one of those moves us on to bigger and better things. Be part of the solution...not an enabler.

So, on a side note, ghost pepper is really, really hot! I take a bite and then have to consume most of my adult beverage before I take another bite.

Does anybody order ghost pepper items? I am referring to ghost pepper wings above but I know Taco Bell has some items. I like hot but that is above my tolerance level.

You parallel my thoughts most of the time, MAT. I'm not following this older people are less interested in progress versus the younger generation. I see no proof of that in my circles. I can't really say that I find it to be an age related issue.

You need to try some Wild Turkey American Honey Sting .... its a Honey Bourbon with ghost pepper mixed in. Smooth with a kick at the end. BigEd turned me onto the Sting after his recent trip to Kentucky.
