Did fuse actually not catch that long pass? The reviews they showed in the stadium couldnt have over turned it. Did they show one on tv that showed the ball on the ground?
It amazes me that Haack throws a costly interception and Nixon gets blamed. The Offensive line cant block Nixon gets blamed. Tackling was atrocious Nixon gets blamed. Play calling was suspect Nixon gets blamed. The same people dogging Hud would have put him on the hundred dollar bill four years ago. Like others have said we have more problems than the QB position. At halftime we had one score oh and Nixon scored that touchdown.
Huh? Hud is to blame for how he used both QBs. I see no "fault" in either QB's attempts to do what the coaches forced them to manage. It became quite obvious a few games back that Nixon only belongs in the game for situational downs... and never for a series. Haack's receivers continue to let him down. But I blame the staff for not having Haack and his WRs working like a well greased machine. Haack is making all of his throws. Our coaching mismanaging the talent (including Eli) didn't help this year at all.
I can assure you that looking back at stats doesn't tell anything whatsoever about what was at the root of our offensive woes this year. Watching each and every down and what went on tells the story. Our coaches fumbled the ball all year long. Sadly, our players are going to take a lot of the blame. And our coaches will help the fans believe it's true. Truly sad.
I've noticed some glaring problems with this Cajuns football team.
1. On offense our line struggles to open holes for Eli and regularly misses assignments on pass protection.
2. Our strength and conditioning is poor. The number of opposing teams that push us around is staggering. Several times I watched as we struggled to tackle players and they ended up picking up extra yardage.
3. Our DB's don't know how to defend the pass. It's amazing how many times they never look for the football.
4. Eli looks slower to me. Just doesn't seem to have the acceleration he had last season and his vision for running lanes seems to be lacking.
5. WR's routinely drop passes and don't run good routes.
6. Coaching staff failed at putting in an offense that caters to the strength of the talent they have. It is pretty obvious the strengths of Haack and Nixon, yet the offense was not tailored to those strengths.
7. The zone read is useless without a QB who can stretch the field with a pass beyond 5 yards. Our running game has suffered because we are far too predictable on offense.
I'll shorten this a bit.
We are not good....almost everywhere.
Football, stripped down to the absolute basics, comes down to 2 things...blocking and tackling. And I would argue that modern day football adds catching the ball and covering receivers to the basics. We are poor in all 4 of these aspects.
Basically, we're not a very good football team this year. What the causes are for these weaknesses is open for debate. There is plenty of blame to go around.
AND NO HYPE VIDEO...makes you wonder now...
