In the scheme we run, if you can call it that, there is usually only one read to make. Our problem is not really at QB OR receiver. It is at coach.

So the other 2 receivers don't run routes that are meant to get them open?

He kept playing TB when Gauthier became healthy.

He forced Nixon into the QB mix in the middle of last season instead of grooming Haack and begin to design a plan around him for this season.

Currently, he is either willfully or ignorantly blind to the fact that his offensive scheme does not match the talent on the field, and he insists on continuing with the charade of Nixon at QB for reasons that can only be known to him.

I've noticed that Hud gets fixated on "his" guys. It's how Octravian Anderson has started for us for so long. It's why we have a goofy special teams return rotation instead of giving it to one person. It's why we have a QB problem. He just needs to get out of his own way. He pays assistant coaches for a reason.

To his defense, in 2012 TB was playing the best football he ever played for us. Would have been pointless to bench him for Blaine.

Blaine was the starter and the best QB in the league. My point is he liked TB more because of the ever so magical "running ability". Well, the end result of following that philosophy has been on full display this season.

He made some reads last night, but he can't sit in the pocket like he wants to because our OL can not hold blocks for longer than 1 or 2 seconds.

Spread the field. Quick pitches. Take a few shots downfield when you can.

I'll disagree with you there. He had plenty of time last night. I can remember one instance where McGuire did his job and handled a blitzing cornerback...Haack had more time yet released it too early for an incomplete pass. I think our O-line did well pass blocking...but can't run block their way out of a wet paper bag.

If he makes one read, he has eliminated one receiver, sometimes two, depending on the formation and the defense. With our OL, and the routes we run, there is rarely time for a second read.

We run no bubble screens, no rub routes, no smash routes, no slants, no drags. we will run two outs at different depths or an out and a go on one side and either an out or go on the other.

We may run one or two of the above a game. "No" is an exaggeration, but not by much.

Disagree Hawk...O-line was a problem in run and pass. False starts, no physical run blocking, pass blocking non-existent. South Al was getting pressure with three linemen. Not a Haack issue there. If 5 can't stop 3, that's a problem.
