Article says targeted reopening Dec 1. Even if they hit that it's cutting in some.
Last year we had only played 1 exhibition and a pair of non-D1's by that date, so wouldn't be too bad for Blackham

What I wouldn't give for lighting to be added to roof, like the superdome. And the UL logo added as well.
In a town like Lafayette that is lacking a significant skyline, the Cajundome, already an icon, could/should play a more of a role in the city/region.
For all of us calling Jay/Steve/Foote for years to b*tch about the lack of atmosphere in the Dome as compared to Blackham---this blurb has me hopeful!
"Lower level seating capacity will increase by a thousand (1,000). Basketball configurations will be more intimate. The first row of seats will be right next to the basketball floor instead of 14 feet away as they are now. They will also be higher by eight (8) inches creating much improved sight lines. New courtside seats will be available on a newly resurfaced basketball court. "
You have to understand that they don't only play basketball at the Cajundome. During some event they don't have enough concessions. It's like some saying why have an 11K+ seat arena when only 3-4K shows up for the games. It's not the arena's fault. You have to build for the future.
Frenchie,
I don't have a problem with it and think it is a good idea adding and enlarging the concession stands. They need it for most events. But the fact remains that at many Cajun events, there are not enough concession stands open or they don't have enough workers.
FWIW, this rendering is old. The updated design won't split the 100 and 200 levels, and the suites will still be in the same place. There will be portals to enter through on the 100 level sidelines, and I'm assuming there will also be a new concourse with new concessions under the 100 level.
----Just thinking about how great our facilities are---softball (great), wbb and Mbb (great arena), baseball will be great, football and the rest of that facility when done will be damn good, and I guess the track/soccer deal is OK---Just thinking that they are on par with most of the Big12 schools---would I be correct on that??
