Phil Ashurst of the Dome will be my guest on BEV today. We're going to talk more about that.

Someone asked if a rendering will be released and I would think yes. But in this case, renderings won't mean much. You'll see the lower level be closer to bowled in and the seats moved closer to the court.

But the real change in this place will come with the lighting.
I wish you would ask him about painting the roof: what color will it be, could they include a UL logo, etc.

I just sent an email to G. Davis, but I think you would get a quicker response, lol. I even asked him if it was a matter of cost, would they consider doing a fund raising campaign to cover the costs....

I've never enjoyed the lighting in the Cajundome for basketball.
I so totally agree: second only to the antiquated seating, the lighting will have a HUGE impact on the game atmosphere. It will also significantly reduce costs.

I didn't create it... I just found it on Ashurst's Youtube channel. He has all kinds of videos of the Cajundome. This was one of them... looks like it was a proposal rendering from Daktronics. I don't know if they are doing it but it looks pretty cool.

I guess you could do the typical advertisements on a ribbon just like the ones inside the dome. That could bring in more advertising revenue to offset any costs.

This may have been discussed already...what is going to be done about the outside roof of the dome. It honestly looks like a giant snail has slithered over it.

The roof is going to get cleaned up. I'll ask about paint. Logo ain't happening.

Paint sounds good to me. I say sell the space to advertisers.

Agreed, and it makes the dome look newer. Kinda like the upgrades to the outside of the Superdome.

What is going to happen to the people that seat on the floor (next to the court)?

That will be part of the re-seating process. That question will be answered at a later date. I've heard they'll still be courtside, but I do not know that. Just a rumor I heard.

Mildew can be handled without painting.

I'm sure an upgrade is needed and if there are leaks they should be patched until the upgrade.

But I suspect the roof doesn't need to look as bad as it does.

A little cleaning would have gone a long way. Waiting for paint jobs is inefficient.
