Good move.
Good move? Extension of venu, allow all members to play, distribution of money to all teams before Coastal arrives.
Playing at UNEAUX is a killer. Far away from action, food, and accommodations.
All members should play.
Money needs to be distributed.
Two of three not bad, but the bad one is awful.
UL at UNEAUX great for me 15 minute ride.
We will have good support at UNO if we make the finals. We had good support two years ago but not so much last year. That was disappointing to some but the last two years we have had lots of fans at softball games. That is one aspect which is not appreciated by the commissioner. We support all our teams. If he wants more cajun fans at the basketball tournament he needs to have our diamond teams on the road that weekend.
I don't know why they can't move the tournament to the Smoothie King center. I think it would really help to get more fans there.
I'm pretty sure the cost of the Smoothie King Center wouldn't be feasible for the tournament. Lakefront has to be pretty cheap and there is not much going on there to schedule around.
What about moving it here, after the Cajundome renovations are done?
I had an interesting conversation with someone yesterday that mentioned he thought that Xavier University would be a better place to host the tournament.
I know they are trying to revitalize the area with Costco going in and it would be a quick cab ride from the quarter. It opened Nov. 3, 2012 so it is very new.
The 97,000 square-foot multipurpose facility replaced The Barn (Xavier's 1,300-seat gymnasium which opened in 1937) and became the new home of XU men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball.
The 3,937-seat facility is recognized as one of the finest collegiate facilities of its size. The Convocation Center includes a hospitality suite, a student-athlete fitness center, a media/video room, a theatre-style meeting space, and a state-of-the-art athletic training facility.
The arena contains state-of-the-art sound, lighting and high-definition Daktronics video boards for spectator comfort.
Man, that is a nice BB facility.
Would also be much closer to downtown than Lakefront.
Man I love that idea.
