I see Southern California making a push for Mullen. Imagine his offense with all that California talent. 5 million a year in beautiful L.A. over Starkville anyday!

I agree with Major as a Hud replacement also. Dude needs no introduction in Louisiana. He has worked with legends like Saban and Mack Brown.

    He's a keeper.

I'd be cool with Major Applewhite.

Offense was so bad at Texas that UT had to bring in a new play caller. That prolific offense at Houston is A lot more to do with the HC Herman than Applewhite.

Applewhite and Jerry Baldwin are very close.

    Doug Meacham TCU
    Rhett Lashlee Auburn
    Lincoln Riley OU
    Mike Norvell ASU
    Scottie Montgomery Duke
Meacham, Lashlee and Riley are on everyone's short list

    Yup. For good reason.

Lashlee would probably be the biggest risk in that group. Has always been tied to Malzhan so he has never had full run of the offense.

No one can possibly come close to Jerry Baldwin. Here is Applewhite's coaching resume:

Grad Asst. - Texas (Mack Brown)
QB Coach - Syracuse (Greg Robinson)
Offensive Coord. - Rice (Todd Graham)
Offensive Coord. - Alabama (Nick Saban)
Running Backs & Asst. Head Coach - Texas (Mack Brown)
Co-Offensive Coordinator & QB coach - Texas (Brian Harsin called plays), then Darrell Wyatt when Harsin took head job at Ark. State - left when Charlie Strong took over
Offensive Coord. & QB coach - Houston (Tom Herman)

It's an OK resume. Nothing spectacular. I see your point though.

You left out that he was forced out at Bama due to his offense not being good. The last time he coached a good offense before this season was at rice.

I don't know how good a head coach he would be, but don't think he should be readily dismissed.

The name I really like is Scottie Montgomery at Duke. Has experience working with one of the best OC's in the NFL in Bruce Arians and has spent the last 2 years as the OC at Duke. He may not be the right fit here but he will make someone a very good head coach in the future.

Its a message board, not a cotillion. If I wanted someone to validate my opinions, I'd watch Fox News. No harm, no foul.
