So a 2 quarterback system has failed everywhere it has been instituted?

Charlie McClendon made it work "so so" with David Woodley and Steve Ensminger.

Dual QB systems get a bad rap because you only need it when a team is "so so" or bad.

I think they help a poor team and hurt a great team.

That is correct. Saying that dual QB systems don't work all that well is because you wouldn't be using a dual QB system if you had an obvious stellar QB. So that very commonly gets associated with teams that are "rebuilding".

Regardless, smart coaches can use dual QB systems well. They just have to be very careful that they destroy the rhythm of a QB by constantly swapping them in and out. I believe you have a primary and a secondary in a two QB system. You only throw in the secondary in situational circumstances and when you need a clear advantage from a different skill set. But, you should always have a designated starter and primary QB that the team rallies around.

I agree with 99% of what Just1More is saying but, it looks like everyone forgot about two quarterback nightmare at LSU in 2011 with Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee. Les Miles used a 2 quarterback system the entire season and managed to go 12-0 in regular season in the SEC. In the end, Miles made a horrific decision to start Jordan Jefferson under extremely controversial circumstances. They lost to Alabama 20-0 in the BCS championship.

The positive thing about using a two quarterback system is that it can make it hard for an opponent to prepare a sound defensive scheme but, the down side is that it can be detrimental to the morale and psyche of the offensive team. Personally I think Turbine got it right...

Or as Just1More said it's a sign of "Rebuilding" and we are rebuilding this season.

If using two quarterbacks works for us then do it but, it's important for the team to understand that it's a strategy and not just a reflection of two quarterbacks fighting for the position.

I am no coach it's just my limited humble opinion.

You also have Chris Leak and Tim Tenow in 2006 winning a national title.

If I remember correctly, Nixon came in twice in short yardage in the 2nd half Saturday. 1st time the play worked. The 2nd time, 10 guys were in the box and Nixon barely got back to the line of scrimmage. If we are going to run 2 QB system, Nixon needs to be able to do more than run. 90% run scheme with Nixon will not do much for our offense.

I would LOVE Nixon in on short yardage situations, as a RB.

I'm 100% with you on that one. I would love to see Nixon as a RB period.

Well when you send him out and run the same exact play from the first time he goes in, it definitely won't work. That would have been the perfect spot for a play action play to the TE but our coaches don't think that well.

The issues we have are caused by play calling. Those issues will persist regardless of who is at QB.

I would love to see us run a double TE on one side of the line and let one of the TEs release. 99% chance he would be uncovered with Nixon behind center.
