It's hard to have a rival if you play them only twice in a dozen years. I always considered LT a rival as well. But in order to be a rivalry you have to play one another.

With no games scheduled in the future as of now, the "rivalry" will fade like McNeese did.

Other than the rain and the level of competition, Haack's performance was similar to Nixons performance at KY. Of course that game did not end in a win but Nixon did not finish the game due to injury. All things equal, I prefer the offense with Haack at the helm. I hope he is given the opportunity to grab the reigns of the offense and become out #1 qb. I feel like Nixon was given the chance and just did not do enough. They do need to figure out how to get him in the offense though. The dude is a tough runner.

I don't care what level the competition was..

Agreed, but they still played us more than anybody else I think. And even though the numbers have tilted way too far their way I get excited when they lose to anyone. I don't feel that way about the Hoax.

We are not rivals, not even close. I would consider Fresno St/Southern Miss more of a rival before ULL. ULM is the rival to ULL

Someone made a post during the game how bad our special teams suck.

Tonight we had a blocked punt, out punted (net) our opponent 41 yds to 22 and had a 37 yard punt return. Going into the game, I thought it was the biggest advantage over ULM that we had. To their credit, they showed it.

Yes, we allowed a long kickoff return, dropped a snap which resulted in a short punt (weather had everything to do with that) but we took advantage of our advantage and honestly, I think the punt game won the game for us.

And, it's time to give the defense some credit. Other than the drive that resulted in the missed FG, ULM did NOTHING...NOTHING on offense in the second half.

And props to Haack. Before the TD pass to Robinson, his passing numbers were worse than Nixon's. But he made a great throw in that weather. The other two QB's on the field didn't have that capability.

It's not about stats, it's about points. The Cajuns got 21 with Haack as QB. I gave Nixon plenty of credit (that some of you didn't want him to have...be honest) for generating points earlier this season.

Haack gave them the spark they needed....no question. He showed great leadership.
Jay 3 for 8 with two glorified handoffs isn't great. And I agree Haack wasn't that great either outside of a few plays. But bringing in Haack did a lot of things for one it got the safeties out of the box and we were able to start moving the ball on the ground.

Haack could have had better numbers if he didn't throw two balls away downfield and hit his dump offs. But when you barely get any first team snaps as a throwing QB I can see that.

Also I still expect Nixon to start.

IMHO, this is the first time this year Haack showed that he WANTED to run the ball.

I don't care if his first run went for 2 yards; he took the snap and shagged tail. Then the other one around the right side where he went for about 20 and slid around the 35. And finally his touchdown around the left side was Broadway-esque.

We were even talking about how he just hasn't looked that fast until last night.

    His passing was incidental.

I said before the season started it would depend on whether he was a better runner than Nixon was a passer. Early on, I think he looked very timid in running the ball. Last night I think he attacked the run

I think we'll see Haack start against Georgia State.

I think Haack's performance in relief against GSU last year earns him a start. He'll be confident as will the coaching staff.

The thing that stood out the most to me was how much the running game benefited by having haack in there. Just the threat of a qb who can throw the ball gave the dangerous cajun running back corps some room ro run!

    Oh...totally agree. Totally.

Just like vs. Kentucky, Nixon's numbers weren't great. But suddenly Pierce etc were able to run.

I'm just saying the PASSING numbers were about the same until the pass to Robinson.

But the pass was one neither Nixon nor Smith could have thrown.
