When Haack ran for the touchdown I think I saw more excitement out of all the offense than I have seen all year. All the play makers were around him. Couple that with Peters and Riles half time speech maybe they have found their leaders. Maybe the team was waiting for Haack to perform to his ability. Maybe they were waiting for someone to really step up. X's and O's are a part of the issue but maybe players stepping up and performing diminishes the X's and O's issue. Dunno, but I think something in the team changed last night.

And I'm pumped and thrilled to see that.

Jay, what is the average starting field position for cajun opponents on kickoffs for the year? The punter is vety good but other than that the special teams is not good.

All of those stats that you rambled off were against a 1-6 ULM.

Well, first of all, I couldn't care less who we were playing. We did it against a team we were playing and that's all that matters.

It was the biggest advantage the Cajuns had going into the game (as I said in my "Five Keys" blog...shameless self promotion LOL). They took advantage of it. That's a GOOD thing.

I don't know the answer to your question, but all of the box scores are on the website if you want to do the math.

I would eliminate touchbacks from the equation. That would be a true measure of kickoff coverage.

THe Cajuns allow little on punt returns. Much of the time, the coverage is directly linked to the person doing the kicking. That's true of kickoff returns as well. It's not just about how far you kick it. It's the kickers' job to also place the ball, directionally.

Not saying that's the cause.....but all of it goes hand in hand.
