You are right IMO. If the pass blocking were decent, the receivers were catching what was thrown to them, and the offensive play calling were just decent... Haack might be "the guy". But due to Hud's preference of plays - Nixon probably is the QB to continue with this year - and very likely not do well against the decent SBC teams.
And as for it being "a rebuilding year"... it is both a rebuilding year AND a crappy coaching year. It can be both. And it is. Saying it's a rebuilding year does not excuse all of the failures this year. It's a deliciously convenient excuse to use. But it is not the only issue by a long shot.
And before the same few boneheads chime in about "it's so negative around here"... Geaux Cajuns! Win every game! We love you! We're behind you 100%! Now, back to just discussing the coaching... if Hud sticks with his oversimplified offense... we know when things get complicated for him, he's going to want an athlete at the QB spot more than he'll risk a better passer with less foot speed... we are going with Nixon. It's just going to be that way. It doesn't mean it's correct. It's just correct for Hud. And he's running the gig.
Does Robinson dropping a TD count? Robinson fumbling at the 10 count? Does riles dropping a first down in his hands count? How about the first TD at Kentucky? When Haack ran it in? He did everything asked of him against NWST. So you tell me what did brooks Haack do so bad to get yanked so quick? 2 pick 6's? Or was that Nixon? 2-17? Or was that Nixon?
What Brook did is to have a set of QB skills that require more out of the personnel around him, and the coaching staff running the offense. I haven't truly gotten to evaluate Haack's full offering. Hud didn't prepare our program to make maximum use of a passer this year. It's easier to use an athlete at the QB spot and hope we can get the job done with more running. It can't and won't work against decent teams. But I also don't think a poorly prepared team can win with a Haack-skilled QB either. So at this point... it's probably best to just watch the games and not even question who plays QB.
So.... Who's in charge of recruiting?
Hey lets focus on the team and program and not like the Dems wanting to know if the Repubs think the Feds should Regulate Fantasy Football! LMBO!

He didn't say he botched the QB decision. He said he might have pulled Brooks too soon but he's sticking with his decision that Nixon is the guy to lead this team. Had he botched it, he would have gone back to Haack immediately and given him his full endorsement. Some of those "people" you speak of have had a pro Haack agenda from day 1 and have even made claims comparing him to Delhomme which is not fair to Haack nor should that even be considered do to his very small sample size as a starter in his career thus far.
I still prefer Haak. Better are and accuracy, reads better, runs ok. Nixon the better runner, but is not accurate and either can hand off to Eli.
