I was not at ANY of the practices, so I cannot say if these players came to us without fundamentals and were not taught, or (more likely) just are not performing. There may be culpability in coaching there, but I think it more likely that these players are simply not performing. Where there is clearly culpability in coaching is the stubborn insistence in sticking with things that are not working (press man comes to mind).

So, to respond directly: It IS the players, slick. But there is plenty of suck to go around and the coaches are in the mix too.
Do you know what a defense does on 3rd and 10 with a QB who can't throw? They eat

Either way it falls on Coach Hud's shoulders. It's his job to recruit the talent.
    That's a defeatist attitude.

Agreed! Hud cannot use that "we are young" excuse. This is his 5th year. His guys are in the program. Its his responsibility to recruit and get young talented players experience so they are ready when the time comes.

Different sport but Coach Robe does a tremendous job doing this exact thing. Yes, apples and oranges.

In 2011 when HUD took over we had better players in our secondary, OL, WR, TE and at QB. While I agree that we have the talent to win the sunbelt, I don't think this coaching staff has recruited nearly as well as people think. Now Huds first class was very good but since then I don't see it. On paper they may have been better but I see a huge lack of talent on this team.

.....and now we all know why we got players the P5 schools would not touch.

And if we have a lack of talent, its 100% on Hud's shoulders. He can use all the APC excuses he wants.

Well if that's the case, all of these Jrs and Srs were good enough when contributing on the last three bowl teams, but all of a sudden can't play anymore?

The staff showed their ignorance in 4/6 games this year. You know how we know? They made ADJUSTMENTS, and the "untalented" players, performed better and make the games seem competitive. The COACHES do not have the team prepared, ever. In the third quarter, Jay Johnson finally threw the ball to Eli, which is something we all have said, and amazingly, it worked. The Oline, WR and Eli's hands didn't get more talented from the start of the game to that point.

And I'm still waiting for Johnson to throw a slant, dig or post over the middle... Guess our players aren't talented enough to run flag football plays...
