In my opinion this is the Offense that Hud wants to run and to be frank Nixon matches up with this Offense better......I thought we would tweak our Offense to fit Haack better but we never did......we now sink or swim with what we have.....I vote we swim....As for Brooks Haack....why in the Hell did we recruit a 3 star QB from one of the elite High School programs in the State of Texas if we were not going to fit the Offense to his talents?

I am more concerned long term with Jay Johnson's inability or unwillingness to design an offense around Haack.

He won't always have a Nixon waiting in the wings.

Thankfully JJ had a Nixon he could insert into his offense.

Then why did Hud pick Haack over Nixon from the onset. Basinbear is right. We should have tweaked this offense around a bigger passing threat. And how did Jamal come in with 6 layers of rust? Why was our OL atrocious against Akron and Tech? Why did Hud say otherwise? Is he dense? We've never had good pass protection with Hud here. We've been entirely dependent on an athletic QB to run around for his life. We sure as hell haven't done that to other teams. It isn't "talent". It's coaching. Sure we'd love to have dominating talent. Geez, I could coach dominating talent to victory. We aren't ever going to have greater talent than everyone we have to play. To overcome our status, we have to have exceptional coaching. I don't see it on offense at all. We started to install a decent defensive package, and it's starting to look like we're back to a prevent scheme instead of an attack and disrupt scheme.

Hud needs to stop tugging so hard on that rope and use his head to set up a pulley system. Brute force is great. But combine it with intelligence and a new world opens up.

I will reserve judgement on this....starting against the 128th ranked Defense in FBS Football ain't exactly a real test....it is a good start though...

I can't explain Hud's decision-making process to start the season other than he'd lost a 3 year starting quarterback who obviously was the heart and soul of our previous team. Practice all you want, until these guys get game experience, I'm sure no one knows exactly how they're going to perform with live bullets being fired at them.

Hud obviously is partial to the type of offense we ran with Broadway and are running now with Nixon.

Beyond that, if you're not happy with his results, take it up with Farmer.

As opposed to always having a backup ready for an offense the staff has thus far been incapable of tweaking.

My optimal rating for reaching potential with the current game plan:
Both in the game, 100%
Nixon by himself, 75%
Haack by himself 65%
Both injured and out 45%

PS This isn't the same as blowing an engine.

I don't understand the thinking of We are going to bypass 100% productivity because we are afraid of the extremely small chance that we will have to operate at 45%

I wonder how many seasons were lost to history because the coaches willfully throttled back?

----For all you anti-Buckley guys out there, please read this article---What a fabulous piece with the help of Foote that they came up with in this story---the Indest part shows what abilities and drive the kid had as seen from his great HS coach---the Al Riles part hits the nail on the head with his comments----the family struggles and his handling of it strike a note of the courage of this guy---Probably nobody on here and certainly myself had any idea of his football smarts and leadership, but I did see something when he came on the field against Kentucky!!! I hope Haack hangs in there just like Nixon did and is ready on a moments notice to come in and lead us to victory!!!
