We lost three WR's to injury in summer workouts and the defense has played virtually the entire year without Washington or Worthy. Add to that the recent OL injury and our luck of the past four years has been completely eradicated. If you want to argue that the lack of depth is a recruiting issue, I will accept that view. Also, not having Simeon Thomas is a factor in the type of defense the new staff wants to play. Note that that is also an issue. It appears some progress is being made in adapting to the new system. I was encouraged by what I saw from that unit in the second half at Tech and in the second and third quarters of the Texas State game. The Bobcats do struggle on defense as well but their offense had success in every other game they have played.
Some of the most devastating program injuries came under Coach Bustle. The issues we had with not being competitive against Akron and Tech were not due to the excessive injury situation. It contributed... but it was not the reason for the lack of competitiveness. It's tough to open the year with Kentucky... go down 21 points due to poor play... then come back in the second half in their stadium... and argue that we don't have the talent due to injury. We did not prepare well for the start of this season, knowing we're up against teams of a higher caliber than what we face in the SBC. It happens every year. And as much as it puzzles everyone that it could happen again... we could actually get the 7 wins this season and do our 8-4. Not likely... but almost as likely as we did it last year. All need to remember... we didn't get the 7 last year by dominating. We barely won some of those games. It only takes a ball bouncing funny one way or the other for us to win two more SBC games... or lose two more SBC games. But to be noncompetitive against Akron and Tech... that took deliberate failure.

Thank you!! The talent is there, and injuries have been part of the deal as long as college football has been played. We lost our entire, ENTIRE linebacking corps (the year Matt Desormeaux had to switch from TE to LB just to fill the lineup card) and still won 6 games. And that was before all the glitz and glamour, before all the rah-rah, before Witt impaling himself, before the NOLA bowls, before we were told for the last 4 years "this is the best class in history". Don't freakin tell me we don't have the players. This fanbase has done everything it's been asked to do since Hudspeth walked onto campus, opened wallets, showed up in record numbers, pushed the admin for more and more... And we still can't beat LaTech?? Bustle beat Tech, remember? Hudspeth lost me when he said "well, we caught Tech on two UP years. They'll be down next year; they're losing a lot of Seniors." WTF does that have to do with anything Coach? They bludgeoned us with two completely different teams, coaches and quarterbacks!

We have more moral victories than any team in history. We are the Alabama or Notre Dame of moral victories.

Babb should have spiked it, instead of trying to score.

You can't expect visiting clock operators to help us in any way. That's a given.

No but you can expect them to do their jobs and follow the rules of the game.

I was in Tiger Stadium in 1972 with 4 seconds left on the Ole Miss 10 yard line LSU ran a 10 yard slant and Ole Miss broke up the play in the end zone.....a 10 yard slant play took 3 seconds to run......everyone around me were laughing their asses off. LSU won the game on the next play. At the Mississippi River Bridge in Vicksburg into Louisiana someone erected a sign on the Mississippi side that said..." You are now entering the State of Louisiana, please set your watch back 4 seconds......
