i'm a big fan of jay, but you're never going to hear him shoot straight where ul coaches are concerned.

And explain to me why these other conferences have had teams make the big bowls like the Fiesta or Orange Bowls while the Sun Belt settles for Mobile.

As long as we are in this conference, we will not recruit the top notch athletes that we need to compete on a national scale. We just built a $30M APC, we pay our coaches more than any other G5 school in the nation, and we have the fan support that can show up in droves at the snap of a finger. But the reality is that they won't show up if the product on the field is not worth watching. These fans won't pay to watch us play the likes of Texas State and NMSU week after week while getting trounced by likes of Akron. Period.

The administration needs to start understanding that you don't add end zone seating, build an APC, or pay a coach $1M to stay in the conference we are in. If that's the case, then we just threw away A LOT of money.
Then Hud better never get a gig in BigXII. That conference is further behind the other P5 conferences than the SBC vs MAC, and CUSA.

Appilachain State is recruiting in a state with less talent than Louisiana. They compete better than us. There are 4 P5, 1 AAC, and 1 CUSA teams in that state.

It's time our coaches quit looking for the conference boggy man and out recruit their conference status. And by Hud's own words we've got by far the best facilities in G5 with only a handful of exceptions. We've yet to lose to any of those teams.

Keeping up that #SunBeltForEver stance I see.

Also impressed with your fans in that they were there in full support of the team and could have cared less with the tailgating socializing aspect. I wish more of our fans had that attitude. Of course, if we had the talent the Bulldogs have this year, they mad do so.
"I do wish we would play every year so that we may catch you in a rebuilding year occasionally"......really Mike? How about we get the program where it belongs....at least on a par with the CUSA member in the State....good grief.....

Amazing....after 17 seasons straight winning no more than 6 games (1994-2010), we've been blessed with four 9-win seasons and four bowl trophies...yet we lose 3 games to start the season and everybody's an expert..if I can still pull for this team after 1-11, I can pull for them at 7-5...

  7. Sunbelt Re: How we just lost the recruiting battle.

So will most people on this board, but if you want to improve the product so you do not have 1-11 seasons you need to win, and pull off some big upsets as well. We did not fill up the stadium for Arkon, and it will be worse for TxSt.

Your point is what? That you are a super fan willing to support bad coaching, and playing? Don't know about you, but I had hoped after four successful years of growth we would not look like one of Stokely's bad team, or a Baldwin bad team, or a Bustle bad team. Guess I am wrong, be happy for small growth and falling back.

Exactly what I thought when I read this post.

If we are "hoping" to catch LATURD in a down year to have a shot at beating them we are not moving in the direction that I thought we were. That I'd an embarrassing statement that no doubt will get copied and pasted on their website.

Come on guy! Tthat is the type of small minded thinking that has done so much dage to Ragin' Cajun athletics in past years!

And if we, the people who dislike bad coaching, didn't keep ripping the asses of the lazy people at UL, you'd still be watching sub .500 football. Now that we've committed major money for facilities and a highly paid head coach... I think we deserve not to be _____ slapped by an instate equal 2 years running. Keep pulling for the Cajuns... but if you don't like people who complain after being humiliated by a very key recruiting rival... don't read this forum. And BTW I'll see everyone this Saturday. I'm a fan... a disgusted fan... but a fan.

There are no valid excuses for being owned by both Akron and Tech. And I know good coaching (Akron/Tech) and crappy coaching (UL) when I see it. I don't have to be a coach to know the difference. Our coaches had better be embracing their suck this week, and scrambling to figure out how to improve. Because... if they're satisfied calling it on our bad talent... they need to be run out of town. The coaching right now sucks the south end of a north bound donkey.
