Screw it. Start Davis
Screw it. Start Davis
Last week not withstanding, because no one played well, you can't say the team didn't react better to Nixon in game 1. Now, that may be bc of the back up mentality we all know about and would not see it if he started, but there is no doubt he added a spark haack didn't have.
Why are you guys so damn concerned about which QB should start. Are all of you blind? The effectiveness of our offense has had zero to do, so far, with QB play. There isn't a discernible difference from our vantage point to make any assessment of QBs. Our play calling is the major suspect. Our OL has completely dictated our run and passing lack of success, against anything decent in front of them, and due to bad play calling with our skill people - running a guy meant for space up the gut - Tom Brady and Russell Wilson would look like Abott and Costello. And unless Jamal mans up today... I'd rather he sit the bench.
Again... quit being your girlfriends daughter discussing football. We haven't set any QB up to be anything other than a failure. And anything our coaches do to play "QB mystery week" is a distraction itself. Who cares who starts? Starts? Really? Starts? I care who succeeds. And if you're so ____ sure you can choose that QB right now... you're as confused as our OC... and that's not a good thing.
Do you understand the point? How is it that Nixon can overcome the issues around him and run us into a win today? How can you tell that he's equipped, today, to make our offense operate better? I can't say it's Haack or Nixon. The only smart thing about choosing one over the other would be what Hud and Jay "cleverly" conjured up as the most effective set and sequence of plays. Nixon may be better in some / Haack in others. But to think it's a given at this point... no way. Our men over 30 have to succeed today before our men under 30 do.
Ok, I will finally admit it. I was wrong about Haack. With all the numerous threads about who to start, who is better, etc, etc, we all missed the obvious choice to who the starting QB will be. There is 1 QB in our system that Jay Johnson will bring out his A game for and he should be our starter now. Bring on Gunner!
I don think many on here are giving credit to what was a very good defense for Akron. They had more to do with our lack of offense than Haack, Nixon, or Jay Johnson.
