Thread: Robinson, McGuire must 'start playing ... like superstars'

  1. UL Football Robinson, McGuire must 'start playing ... like superstars'

The call has gone out. Loud. And clear. UL coach Mark Hudspeth needs Jamal Robinson and Elijah Robinson.

How do you blame McGuire when he doesn't touch the ball in the first 6 plays of the game. If you want him to be the man you have to give him the ball, give him the ball and yes, give him the ball. Terrible play calling from start to finish vs Akron.

One of the most dangerous weapons in space in the country...and you use him like a battering ram. But...the players and the APC is to blame.

Since the day after last season ended, offensive coaches should have been scheming as many ways possible to get Eli the ball. It blew me away seeing him not touch the ball but once in the 1st quarter.

Forgive me but I feel like our offense consists of about 10-12 different plays. (I know that isn't true but from the stands it feels that way.)

To me, nothing has really changed over the last few seasons. McGuire was bailing us out making big plays because we were able to wear defenses down with Zo. Now it feels like all anyone has to do is gameplan for McGuire and we are screwed. That's the coaching staff's fault. There is talent on this team on offense, we just aren't using it. Maybe our offensive line isn't as good as we thought.

It pains me to see what other offenses do with less talent, game after game. And if you think they are that much more talented then we're being lied to about our recruiting efforts.

I didn't feel like we passed the "eye test" against Northwestern St, yet people who glanced at the box score thought we really looked good. I sure hope we can change it up but running a trick play here and there with McGuire dropping back to pass isn't my idea of being creative on offense. jmo

Given the sorry state of our receiving corps, Nixon should be starting for Tech. If Tech can stop our zone read, they deserve the win.

If we are gonna go down, let's go down fighting. Until Robinson and Hayes decide they want to be men, we have to run the option.

McGuire needs to be used like R. Bush was used at USC.
