Great article Luke. Cannot be said any better.
He noted Nixon's response. I'll tell you this, Nixon was forged under fire in high school. His high school coach back then did not baby his players. I don't know who should start at QB after watching that game, but if you want someone who won't get rattled he was surely prepared to take the heat.
Great article; excuses excuses. I would imagine it was indeed difficult to practice with tours going on, so handle it then. Bottom line is we got out-coached, and that is not the player's fault. Hud said it himself, these are kids, it's the coaches jobs to have them focused. They were not.
Nice to read an article that tells it like it is! Not often do we see local reporters with the "NADS" to do that. As Hud would say, "Big Time" journalism!
Good stuff as always Luke. Wish we had some chats this year, this weeks would be a lot of fun

It was a very well written incredibly done article by a writer in this area who finally has the balls to question the all powerful coach. Having said that, I'd like to make a couple of points. First, Don't ejver expect anything but coach speak out of Hudspeth's mouth from here on out. That's why coaches give coach speak so much of the time. I'm glad Hud at least had the foresight to understand that his butt was gonna be bar-b-qued after this loss one way or the other.
Secondly I happen to believe the guy. I don't think the move just denutted the players as much as it may have denutted the coaches, or everyone in the organization for that fact from the trainers on up. I know it denutted the radio crew for the game. Having said that, Hudspeth should have seen this move coming long ago himself, & planned for the accompanying distractions with his whole staff. And closing off the facility to the people who built it for you is bad business. It might be good football. But it's bad business.
Didn't a lot of people here say that they should run tours all day everyday to let people see it, and that it wouldn't be a distraction?
